CWI Operations Team Lead
Position Details
- Position Title: CWI Engineering Team Lead
- Department: Wells
- Location: Majnoon Oil Field – Basra, Iraq
- Reports to: CWI Section Head
- Direct Reports: Senior CWI Supervisors, CWI Supervisor
1. Role Purpose
Lead and manage the safe execution of all completions, workover, and rigless well intervention operations. Ensure operational excellence, well integrity compliance, and alignment with field development objectives while overseeing multi‑discipline field teams and contractors.
2. Key Responsibilities
HSSE & Well Integrity
- Champion a proactive safety culture with Zero Harm.
- Conduct site safety visits, audits, and toolbox talk reviews.
- Lead incident reporting and root‑cause investigations.
- Ensure compliance with well integrity standards such as NORSOK D‑010.
Operational Leadership
- Lead day‑to‑day execution of completions, well intervention, coiled tubing, slickline, e‑line, stimulation, and well integrity operations.
- Ensure adherence to HSSE standards, procedures, and permit‑to‑work systems.
- Lead SIMOPS planning and coordination with Production, Subsurface, and Drilling teams.
- Maintain well barrier integrity before, during, and after operations.
Program Execution & Technical Assurance
- Review and validate Completion, Workover, and Intervention Programs and Procedures.
- Ensure technical accuracy of schematics, tool strings, barrier envelopes, and contingency plans.
- Verify operational readiness including QA/QC, equipment certification, and service company preparation.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering programs through lessons learned.
Operational Support & Problem Solving
- Provide high‑level operational support during critical operations and complex well issues.
- Analyze operational data, equipment failures, and NPT to drive performance improvements.
- Lead root-cause investigations and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
- Support SIMOPS operations and coordination with Production, Subsurface, and Drilling.
Cost & Schedule Control
- Support development of budgets, forecasts, and AFE inputs.
- Monitor job efficiency, performance, and operational KPIs.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Contractor & Performance Management
- Manage performance of all service companies involved in rigless operations.
- Track and analyze service quality, NPT, equipment failures, and operational performance.
- Support tendering, technical evaluations, and contract management processes.
- Ensure contractors deliver according to scope, procedures, and HSSE requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and competency development for supervisors and engineers.
- Ensure crew readiness for critical operations through training and pre‑job planning.
- Promote collaboration between field and office‑based teams.
Reporting & Governance
- Ensure accurate daily reporting, operational summaries, and intervention closeout reports.
- Ensure documentation accuracy in systems such as WellView, OpenWells, and well integrity databases.
- Report performance, risks, and improvement areas to senior management.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 10–15+ years of experience in completions, well intervention, workover, and well integrity operations disciplines.
- Valid IWCF Level 4 Well Intervention Pressure Control certification.
- Strong experience leading CWI operations teams in high‑activity onshore fields.
- Comprehensive understanding of well integrity standards (e.g., NORSOK D‑010), well control, and barrier management.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (API, ISO, IOGP) and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Expertise in completion, CT, slickline, e-line, ESP, stimulation, and workover operations.
- Experience in Iraq/Majnoon preferred.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
