The Role
We are seeking a Counsel to support Andersen’s Legal and Risk Management team, with a primary focus on contract review, drafting, and negotiation. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to review vendor and technology agreements, draft legal documents (including conflict waivers), and support client engagement materials.
The position is heavily focused on high-volume contract review and providing practical, timely legal support across the business in a fast-paced environment. The role will support the legal and risk management functions within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor agreements, technology contracts, engagement letters, statements of work, NDAs, and conflict waivers
- Review a high volume of contracts and prioritize requests from internal stakeholders
- Identify legal and commercial risks and provide practical, business-oriented solutions
- Draft responses to client-facing correspondence, including sensitive or escalated communications
- Support internal teams by providing timely, business-oriented legal guidance
- Assist with contract management processes and documentation (including use of procurement systems such as ServiceNow)
The Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, with strong emphasis on commercial contracts and transactional support
- J.D. from an accredited law school; member in good standing of at least one state bar
- Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, including professional services agreements, vendor contracts, and related transactional documents
- Highly analytical self-starter with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent drafting, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of requests, prioritize effectively, and adjust to shifting priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Experience supporting a professional services or consulting environment preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; interest or basic experience with AI tools is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being, growth, and long-term success of our people. Salary Range: For individuals hired to work in Chicago, the expected salary range for this role is $155,900– $194,400. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skill set.
Benefits: Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage. Employees may enroll in the firm’s 401(k) plan upon hire.
