Corporate Tax Specialist

The KBR tax team is looking for a Corporate Tax Specialist within its UK, European and Africa tax function. Reporting into the Regional Senior Tax Manager, based in Leatherhead, the individual will also interact directly with the Group Tax function, based in Houston. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Group’s UK corporate tax compliance and reporting, and the wider regional tax function. In addition, the individual will be asked to perform technical research, project support and corporate tax planning. The role offers exposure to KBR’s global tax and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance
Prepare UK corporation tax computations, returns, and supporting analyses.
Assist with tax payments, including forecasting quarterly instalment payments.
Gather and analyse financial data required for tax filings.
2. Tax Reporting
Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end tax accounting processes.
Prepare current and deferred tax workings under UK GAAP and US GAAP
Assist with tax disclosures for statutory accounts.
Respond to auditor queries promptly and accurately.
3. Tax Governance & Controls
Maintain documentation supporting tax positions and controls.
Manage the SAO compliance by ensuring process accuracy and completeness.
Assist with HMRC enquiries and data requests.
4. Business Support & Advisory Assistance
Provide tax input for routine business queries (e.g., expense tax treatment, withholding tax).
Perform initial research on technical tax issues before escalating to the Senior Tax Manager.
Support transfer pricing data collection and local file documentation.
5. Process & Data Improvements
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, automation, and data quality.
Support implementation of tax technology tools.
Help maintain internal tax process documentation.
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Skills
Good understanding of UK corporate tax laws and compliance requirements.
Working knowledge of tax accounting principles (UK GAAP/US GAAP).
Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Onesource tax compliance software is beneficial.
Familiarity with data manipulation tools such as Power BI is desirable, and an improvement mindset is essential.
Experience
Qualified tax professional (ACA / ACCA / CTA), or working towards qualification.
A relevant number of years of experience in UK corporate tax (Big 4 or large multinational).
Experience preparing corporate tax computations and supporting year‑end tax reporting.
