This position supports the Army Prepositioned Stocks – 4 Program located in Camp Carroll, Korea. The Heavy Track Vehicle Mechanic will comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, local safety policies, and KBR’s Zero Harm program.
Job Summary
The Heavy Track Vehicle Mechanic provides Care of Stock in Storage (COSIS) based preventive maintenance and repair services under the guidance of the Heavy Track Section Supervisor. These maintenance procedures are performed on the M1A2 Abrams (SEPv2), M109A6 Paladin, M88A2 Hercules, M60 Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge (AVLB), and other tracked vehicles maintained under the APS-4 program.
General maintenance includes Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), general inspections, component repair and replacement, unscheduled maintenance, and repair of inbound and outbound equipment.
Detailed maintenance procedures include diagnosing and troubleshooting component and system malfunctions; determining required repairs and parts; completing lubrication orders; performing -10 and -20 level PMCS; removing, replacing, and repairing sub-assemblies and components such as engines, transmissions, turret and armament systems, recovery systems, and bridge launch systems; repairing and replacing fire suppression systems, pneumatic and hydraulic components; conducting road tests and ground guide operations; performing emergency repairs; maintaining vehicle markings and decals; replacing track and batteries; cleaning equipment; maintaining fluids and fuel levels; maintaining accountability of tools, equipment, and work areas; and performing other duties as assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ability to work from technical manuals, work instructions, and work orders.
Provide a basic tool set equivalent to a General Mechanics Tool Set.
Use maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals effectively.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport.
Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.
Ability to obtain US EXPAT Invited Contractor Status and SOFA Visa IAW USFK 700-19.
Favorable adjudication of an NACI background check.
High School diploma or GED with five years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy track vehicles such as M1A2SEPv2, M109A6, M88A2, M60 AVLB, or similar platforms.
Certification from a vocational school or other recognized source, such as a military service-related Advanced Individual Training focused on track vehicle maintenance, is preferred.
Instead of formal coursework, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered.
Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, with heat and humidity.
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 35 pounds to shoulder height.
Required to pass initial and periodic medical screening.
