Heidelberg Materials is seeking a
Terminal Supervisor to join our team. This position directs, coordinates and supervises operations at the facilities in the lower mainland area including the management and coordination of depot inventories and supervision of depot loader operator staff.
What you will get to do:
- Prioritizes, schedules, coordinates and delegates work assignments and responsibilities to loader operators; reviews and approves timecards, schedules bank and vacation time.
- Responsible for managing on site inventory levels and assists with weekly product orderings in coordination with Marine Dispatch and Sales
- Monitors operator’s performance including efficiency, service, productivity, cost effectiveness and professionalism.
- Enforces compliance with safety rules, policies and procedures; coordinates site safety programs and training in providing a safe work environment.
- Oversees the contractor for offloading of barges and proper transfer of products to stockpiles.
- Hires and manages contractors; provides safety orientation to site visitors and contractors.
- Maintains depot facilities including scale trailers, site drainage and floor grading.
- Manages site personnel in accordance with the Collective Agreement and Company policy
What we are looking for:
- Post-secondary diploma / degree or equivalent experience required
- Experience in aggregate/mining production, logistics, or heavy industry is an asset
- 3-5 years’ management/supervisory experience in a unionized environment is preferred
- Operations experience and exposure to standard business processes and/or project management is an asset
- Knowledge of safety and WSBC regulations and policies
- Strong oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
- Time management and conflict resolution skills and experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Good observation, critical thinking and excellent organizational skills.
Work Environment:
- Role operates in a professional office environment as well as manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
