Contracts Buyer

KBR is looking for a Contracts Buyer to be responsible for selecting and negotiating with approved suppliers and placing purchase orders in response to product requirements. You will use judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices and may direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. You will rely upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy. The position involves a great deal of organizing, work prioritization and related skills, and/or a great deal of peer interface is necessary to properly complete tasks via teamwork.
Functional Responsibilities:
Plan and execute procurement of construction materials and services to support project operations.
Qualify suppliers, issue RFPs, evaluate proposals, develop subcontract packages, and maintain subcontract files in accordance with established procedures.
Resolve subcontract‑related and construction‑related issues.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of service and labor markets.
Contribute to the development of subcontracting policies, procedures, and strategies.
Manage procurement reporting tools such as SAP and Procore to support project requirements.
Prepare bid tabulations, coordinate project approvals, and negotiate with bidders to support schedule adherence.
Ensure compliance with safety policies while performing all assigned duties.
Interface effectively with all levels of the project team.
Participate in project kick‑off and alignment meetings.
Lead or support all aspects of the contract bidding process for capital projects.
Coordinate subcontract closeout activities and resolve outstanding contractual matters.
Maintain communication with clients and project stakeholders through meetings, calls, and reports to ensure satisfaction.
Prepare, track, and communicate documentation required for corporate and contract management needs.
Monitor subcontractor compliance with KBR’s HSSE, Quality, and Finance requirements.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of procurement experience.
Strong negotiation, organizational, and team‑building skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to collaborate across multiple sites.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP or similar procurement tools preferred.
Knowledge of procurement procedures, plans, and best practices.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and support several clients simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to lead tasks and projects to completion while supporting high‑quality, reliable operations.
