THE ROLE:
The Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) is seeking a hands-on Systems Design Engineer to support complex data center deployments and platform bring-up activities. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to stand up cutting-edge CPU/GPU platforms, ensuring full system functionality across hardware and software layers.
You will be responsible for configuring systems end-to-end—from hardware setup and firmware installation to OS configuration and workload validation—while playing a critical role in identifying, debugging, and resolving issues as they arise. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, lab-driven environment with exposure to real-world data center infrastructure, collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and OEM/ODM partners to drive successful deployments and continuous improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deploy and configure a wide range of data center platforms to support validation and verification activities
- Perform system bring-up including hardware setup, firmware installation, OS configuration, and workload/tool setup
- Debug and root cause system/platform issues across hardware and software layers
- Manage and prioritize issues through ticketing systems, ensuring timely resolution of critical items
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define processes, share updates, and drive issue resolution
- Communicate clearly within tickets and documentation to reflect system status and debugging progress
- Partner with vendors, OEMs, and ODMs to troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues
- Drive continuous improvement in deployment processes, debugging methodologies, and system reliability
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with hardware/system bring-up, validation, or verification environments
- Strong debugging skills across system-level hardware and software issues
- Familiarity with BIOS, BMC, and general debug methodologies
- Working knowledge of Linux, including system metrics and debugging tools
- Experience with scripting and/or test automation
- Familiarity with ticketing systems such as JIRA
- Experience collaborating with external partners such as OEMs, ODMs, or vendors
- Exposure to system-level debug methodologies and hardware lab environments
- Experience using standard lab equipment (e.g., dediprog, oscilloscopes, lift tools)
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
