Shift Leader Maintenance

The Role
The Maintenance Shift Leader will support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment in the Maintenance department for the battery build and pack assembly areas. In addition, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance projects as well as supporting Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee a group of salaried maintenance Group Leaders and UAW Skilled Trades while leading the maintenance of plant equipment and facility operations, ensuring alignment with GM’s standardized maintenance systems.
- Drive the development and implementation of a world‑class maintenance system emphasizing equipment reliability, preventive/predictive maintenance, breakdown response, and effective spare‑parts management.
- Oversee preventive maintenance activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, and drive timely, high‑quality resolution to meet production schedules.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships across employees, union partners, and management.
- Apply and consistently uphold the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the UAW.
- Champion a culture of safety by promoting safe work practices and meeting objectives for ergonomics, health, safety, and housekeeping.
- Develop, plan, and deliver technical and operational training for maintenance personnel.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime and improve key reliability metrics such as MTTR and MCBF.
- Coordinate and support activities required for flawless program launches, ensuring maintenance readiness and execution.
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance MAXIMO utilization, improving asset performance through better work order management, downtime tracking, spare‑parts control, and preventive maintenance planning.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, job planning, kitting, and effective maintenance execution.
- Proven troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical abilities.
- Working knowledge of MAXIMO and Kronos systems.
- Demonstrated supervisory or team‑lead experience.
- Ability to support weekend operations as needed.

- Proficient in Excel with strong computer skills.
- GMS or World Class Manufacturing experience
