KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities.
Our KBR team in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a Technical Trainer, and your contributions will directly impact the success of our projects and the overall business outcomes we aim to achieve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Demonstrations: Equip stakeholders to understand the current and upcoming application capabilities by presenting high-level or deep-dive demonstrations, answering audience questions, preparing and distributing demonstration materials like informational brochures.
- Application Training: Quickly and efficiently onboard users who may be used to older legacy operating procedures, as well as new users who have not had any experience interacting with these task workflows.
- Training Documentation: Create and maintain step-by-step training guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical manuals that explain the workflows and architecture of the system following DoW standards.
- Stakeholder-facing Documentation: Assist in the writing of test plan documentation and administrative level reports to maintain transparency in our development process and arm stakeholders with the information they need for their own briefings.
- Assist with Design Specifications: Work with the User Experience designers to document the nuance of interface requirements and application behavior expectations for both developer and test utilization.
- (Optional) Quality Assurance Support: As you'll be helping to write test plans, user-guides, and other documentation on how the application is intended to work, a background in QA or test-writing is valued but not required. To ensure demonstration success, you'll be assisting the team in the functional testing of software releases from the perspective of multiple different user roles.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Security Clearance: Must possess an active U.S. government TS/SCI security clearance, which only a U.S. citizen can obtain
- Ability to obtain and maintain a JWICS, SAP/SAR clearance
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a technology-driven environment, with experience in creating SOPs and marketing content.
- Ability to deliver clear, engaging application demonstrations, including highlevel overviews and deepdive technical walkthroughs, tailored to diverse stakeholder audiences
- Proven ability to develop and maintain training documentation, including stepbystep user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical manuals
- Strong technical writing skills, with experience documenting system workflows, user roles, and application behavior in accordance with DoW standards
- Ability to produce stakeholderfacing documentation, such as test plans and administrative or programlevel reports, to support transparency and executive briefings
- Experience collaborating with UX/UI designers to document interface requirements, workflow nuances, and expected application behaviors for developer and test use
- Working knowledge of modern software application architectures and operational workflows, with the ability to translate technical concepts for nontechnical audiences
- Strong collaboration skills, enabling effective coordination with engineers, testers, program managers, and government stakeholders
- Experience working closely with software engineers to understand application functionality, workflows, and technical constraints to develop accurate training and documentation
- Experience working in Agile development environments, including participation in sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and iterative release cycles
- Hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence for requirements tracking, documentation management, and collaboration, with familiarity using GitLab for version control and release coordination
- Familiarity with software development processes, APIs, and tools such as Markdown, Git, or content management systems. Experience with diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) is a plus.
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with Google Suite of tools.
Basic Compensation: $86,100 - $129,200 (Salary Range for Colorado Springs Only)
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
