Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center - Cole Engineering Center Tower, in Warren, MI, three times per week, at minimum.
Role Overview:
As a member of our global ICC Facilities Contracts and Supplier Relationships Team, you will own and lead the strategic initiatives associated with third-party facilities Service Agreement (SA) contracts across GM manufacturing and non-manufacturing locations. You will be accountable for the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including scope integrity, commercial strategy, supplier performance, and financial outcomes.
You will act as a contracts and supplier management subject matter expert, driving cross-functional alignment with Global Purchasing and Manufacturing Services (GP&MS), Finance, Labor Relations, Legal, and site leadership to deliver optimal contract value and risk management.
A core focus of this role is to own and drive cost savings and value creation, including developing cost strategies, leading financial risk forecasts, and preparing and executing robust 3rd party collective bargaining agreement (CBA) communication negotiation strategies and sourcing decisions. You will lead planning and support CBA-based strategies for 3rd party SA commercial discussions, ensuring competitive market positioning and responsible financial stewardship for GM.
You will champion GMS and waste elimination by using performance data, root cause analysis, and structured countermeasures during monthly KPI reviews and routine performance reviews for facilities service agreements. You will also ensure effective contract management and compliance, including supplier safety obligations, sustainability expectations, and ongoing contract governance.
This role requires strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills, as you will routinely lead complex initiatives, coach business partners, and help standardize best practices across GM sites.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Contract & Scope Ownership

Own the development, integrity, and ongoing governance of the scope and framework for Facility Service Agreements (SAs) at GM locations, ensuring alignment with business objectives, risk posture, and policy.

Maintain and continuously refine scope language and commercial terms to protect GM’s interests, minimize risk, and enable sustainable service delivery.

Serve as a primary contract owner for assigned SAs, leading regular contract reviews and driving decisions on scope changes, renewals, and optimization opportunities.

Explore and pilot AI, automation, and advanced analytics tools in the facilities and contracting space to drive continuous improvement, cost savings, and service quality enhancements.

Champion change adoption by coaching stakeholders and suppliers on new tools and digital workflows, ensuring technology solutions are effectively integrated into day-to-day operations and contract governance.
Cost Savings, Financial Strategy & Risk Management

Own and drive SA cost savings roadmaps by developing strategies, challenging cost drivers, and identifying opportunities for waste elimination, efficiency, and value engineering across sites and services.

Lead financial forecasting related to facilities SAs, including building and maintaining risk-based forecasts that incorporate volume changes, market conditions, and contract obligations.

Develop CBA forecasts and business cases to support sourcing decisions, contract renewals, scope changes, and investment requests, clearly articulating financial and operational trade-offs.

Partner with Finance and GP&MS to ensure SA financials, savings, and risks are transparently tracked, validated, and reported through tools such as Reliance and BPD cost initiatives.

Translate complex commercial considerations into clear, data-backed recommendations for leadership, aligning negotiation outcomes with GM’s strategic, financial, and operational goals.
Contract Management, Governance & Supplier Performance

Drive monthly KPI evaluations and routine performance reviews for facilities service agreements, using root cause analysis and structured countermeasures to resolve systemic issues and improve results.

Build and maintain strong business partner and supplier relationships, promoting continuous improvement, service quality, and collaborative problem solving.
Leadership, Influence & Capability Building

Act as a T3 (Train-the-Trainer) resource, building capability in others on systems (e.g., SA On-Demand, SA structure, SA KPIs) and processes that support contracts and service quality delivery.

Lead cross-functional projects and workstreams, often with ambiguity and complex stakeholder environments, ensuring structured planning, execution, and communication.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law, engineering, finance, facility management preferred, or equivalent work experience.

3-5 years of transferable experience.

Demonstrated experience owning contracting practices and concepts, including technical writing, process controls, audit methods, and records management discipline.

Proven track record leading cost savings initiatives, financial tracking, and forecast budgeting within services or facilities environments.

Experience with labor relations and CBAs, benchmarking market rates, and supporting negotiations

Demonstrated ability to lead teams or cross-functional workstreams, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment across functions (e.g., GP&MS, Finance, Legal, Labor Relations, site leadership).
