ABOUT UHP
Unlock Human Potential (UHP) is an immersive education campus located outside Bentonville, Arkansas, purpose-built to transform the lives of veterans through rigorous, career-connected education. UHP pairs world-class instruction with employer partnerships that create direct pathways from the classroom to meaningful careers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Next Command is the architect of UHP's student-to-employer pipeline — the person who closes the gap between what veterans accomplish on campus and where they land in the workforce. This is a builder role: the Director will design and own the systems, relationships, and processes that drive placement, then scale those efforts by hiring, developing, and leading a growing team of Outcomes Coordinators.
In the near term, the Director will carry both a strategic and a hands-on load — working directly with students and employers while the team is being built. As Outcomes Coordinators are hired and onboarded, the Director transitions into leadership and system stewardship, while retaining oversight of the highest-leverage employer relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employer Partnership & Placement
- Build and manage UHP's employer partner network, ensuring hiring partners are actively engaged, informed, and motivated to recruit UHP graduates.
- Negotiate and formalize placement agreements, interview guarantees, and hiring commitments with partner organizations.
- Own the full employer relationship lifecycle — from initial outreach and agreement through post-hire check-ins that reinforce partner confidence.
- Develop a pipeline of new hiring partners aligned with UHP program offerings and veteran career interests.
- Represent UHP at employer site visits, industry events, and partner briefings.
Student Outcomes & Career Readiness
- Conduct in-person interviews with enrolled students to assess career goals, professional readiness, and placement alignment.
- Lead outcomes-focused components of the admissions process, including pre-arrival interviews with incoming students to establish early career trajectory.
- Coach students on resume presentation, interview preparation, and professional positioning to ensure they are competitive in partner hiring processes.
- Track individual student progress toward placement milestones and intervene proactively with students who need additional preparation.
- Serve as a key advocate for students within employer conversations — translating military experience into language that resonates with civilian hiring managers.
Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement the Outcomes team's operational infrastructure: intake processes, tracking systems, placement dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
- Define and own key outcomes metrics, including placement rate, time-to-placement, partner satisfaction, and retention at 90 days and one year.
- Report outcomes data to leadership on a regular cadence and use that data to drive program and process improvements.
- Collaborate with admissions and academic leadership to align student profiles, curriculum design, and employer expectations.
Team Building & Leadership
- Develop the role and competency profile for Outcomes Coordinators; lead recruiting, selection, and onboarding of the team.
- Create training, playbooks, and performance standards so Coordinators deliver consistent, high-quality student and employer experiences.
- Manage and develop the Outcomes team as it grows, providing coaching, accountability, and career development.
- Foster a team culture aligned with UHP's mission: service-oriented, high-standards, and deeply invested in veteran success.
- Work closely with Partnerships to craft Outcomes into new and existing relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 7+ years of experience in career services, workforce development, employer relations, talent acquisition, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated success in building employer partnerships or talent pipelines that produced measurable hiring outcomes.
- Strong individual interviewing and coaching skills; comfortable working directly with students, candidates, or job seekers.
- Proven ability to manage and grow external relationships at the hiring manager and HR leadership level.
- Experience designing or improving operational processes, systems, or tracking infrastructure.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to represent UHP credibly with both corporate partners and student populations.
- Demonstrated leadership — whether managing a team, building a function, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
Strongly Preferred
- Military service or significant professional experience working with veteran populations.
- Background in higher education career services, bootcamp/accelerated learning, or workforce transition programs.
- Experience in a start-up or build-it-from-scratch environment — comfortable without a fully formed playbook.
- Existing employer network in sectors relevant to the UHP program offerings.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In the first 90 days, the Director of Next Command will have:
- Completed outcome interview survey of all UHP alumni to best inform program architecture.
- Interviewed every enrolled student and established individual placement plans.
- Mapped the existing employer partner landscape and identified the top 10–15 priority relationships to deepen or initiate.
- Defined the core metrics and reporting framework for the Outcomes function.
- Drafted the role profile and launched the search for UHP's first Outcomes Coordinator.
By the end of year one, the Director of Next Command will have:
- Achieved measurable placement outcomes for UHP's inaugural or early cohort(s).
- Built and onboarded an Outcomes Coordinator team capable of operating the student-facing side of the function independently.
