Caterpillar’s BCP division is hiring a Facilities Technician to support daily facility operations and maintenance activities at the Sanford Machine Development Center (SMDC).
Role Summary:
In this role, you will provide hands-on facilities and administrative support to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable building operations at the SMDC. You will serve as a first point of contact for facility service needs, support maintenance and engineering teams, and manage day-to-day operational tasks such as purchase orders, invoices, and inventory.
What You’ll Do (Job Duties):
- Facilities Operations Support: Serve as first-line support for SMDC test areas, prove design shop, and other building service issues, work requests, and basic troubleshooting.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with facility engineers and maintenance teams, as well as external service providers to resolve issues.
- Financial & Administrative Management: Manage purchase orders, invoices, and documentation related to facilities projects and daily operations.
- Inventory & Supply Management: Monitor, maintain, and reorder facility supplies and inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Support preventive maintenance activities and documentation, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to improve equipment and facility reliability.
- 5S & Continuous Improvement: Maintain and continuously improve 5S programs for Shop and Endurance areas
- Capital Project Execution: Manage small capital improvement projects from RFI creation through contractor selection and oversight
- Problem Solving & Communication: Apply structured problem-solving and escalation practices and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure timely issue resolution and project execution.

- Technical Troubleshooting: Uses systematic methods to diagnose and resolve basic facility and equipment issues.
- Project Execution: Lead or support various facility repair or improvement projects, ensuring objectives are well defined and project schedule and cost targets are met.
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Basic understanding of TPM principles and equipment effectiveness concepts.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Degree or equivalent practical experience in facilities, maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or technical facility environments, with particular emphasis on testing or product development environments.
- Familiarity with work order systems, inventory tracking, and basic maintenance processes.

Summary Pay Range:
$72,360.00 - $108,540.00
