The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Kubernetes Specialist to join the team in Seattle, WA; Kent, WA; Tukwila, WA; Hazelwood, MO; Mesa, AZ; El Segundo, CA; Seal Beach, CA; or North Charleston, SC.
This individual will develop, design, and create a cloud-agnostic Kubernetes platform as a service environment, with foundational expectations for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
This role will focus on building a robust and automated infrastructure that supports our applications while ensuring operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with development and application teams to enhance platform capabilities, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues. A runtime set of analysts will assist with the ongoing maintenance of the environment, allowing you to focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop, design, and create a cloud-agnostic Kubernetes platform as a service offering, leveraging AWS EKS and Azure AKS to meet the needs of internal and external customers
Build and maintain Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate application deployment and infrastructure provisioning
Monitor system performance and observability, utilizing tools like Prometheus and Grafana to ensure reliability and efficiency
Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, implementing enhancements to improve performance and user experience
Collaborate with development and application teams to educate them on best practices for utilizing the Kubernetes platform
Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the platform and automate processes
Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance
Implement security best practices for Kubernetes environments, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and network policies
Participate in incident response and post-mortem analysis to improve system reliability and performance
Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in cloud-native and Kubernetes ecosystems to drive innovation
Demonstrate a proactive mindset and strong problem-solving abilities to navigate the dynamic nature of cloud environments
Foster a commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction within a collaborative work environment
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
10+ years of experience in deploying and managing distributed systems in cloud platforms (Ex. Azure, AWS, GCP)
5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
5+ years of experience do you have with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS or Azure), infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and automation tools (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chef etc.)
3+ years of experience in installing and configuring open-source monitoring tools (Ex. Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Elasticsearch, Kibana)
3+ years of experience writing Python and Bash scripts to automate deployment tasks, improve security and monitoring
3+ years of experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines on public cloud platforms including AWS Pipelines, Azure Pipelines
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Experience with strong communication skills and collaborating with development and application teams
Experience with AWS EKS and Azure AKS, as well as familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform)
Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio)
Experience with container orchestration and management tools beyond Kubernetes, such as Docker Swarm or OpenShift

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $164,900 – $239,200
