Description:About the Role:
This position is for the M-Code Guidance Set (MGS) Chief Engineer role in the Precision Fires Rockets (PFR) Development program area. This role reports to the Precision Fires Rockets Development Chief Engineer programmatically and will be expected to work closely with the other members of the Precision Fires Chief Engineer as well as the PFR program and customer community.
What You Will Be Doing:
As the MGS Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Providing technical leadership that enables the team to meet and demonstrate all MGS development and production milestones on schedule
• Providing technical support and working with the U.S. Government (USG) customer and subsystem suppliers to architect rocket systems to meet the warfighter’s needs
• Developing and nurturing a productive partnership with the USG customer
• Guiding IPT leads and cross-functional teams in program planning, scheduling, trade studies, design concepts, verification, and critical life cycle reviews
• Ensuring program staffing is appropriate from an E&T perspective
• Collaborating with Engineering Excellence management to ensure program milestones are successfully completed
• Supporting and leading program technical reviews and participating in monthly E&T meetings, staff meetings, and other critical program activities
• Communicating lessons learned and ensuring synergy across tasks with the entire Chief Engineer staff
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide end to end technical leadership for the product development process
• Provide technical expertise and be the main Lockheed Martin point of contact with the USG customer Chief Engineer(s)
• Provide technical leadership for design and development efforts, from system architecture through design and qualification
• Develop and execute detailed program plans, schedules, and trade study analyses
• Lead or support customer briefings, weekly IPT status updates, Technical Interchange Meetings, Technical Readiness Reviews, and other critical program reviews
• Participate in Failure Review Boards, Risk Management, and Mission Success Reviews
• Support technical reviews internally, with the customer, and external stakeholders, and at supplier locations
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must:
• Have demonstrated extensive rocket system design experience and an in-depth understanding of rocket hardware and software/firmware, including rocket sensors, guidance systems, fuze systems, warheads, and propulsion systems
• Have demonstrated experience in planning and leading technical solutions from proposal through all aspects of development including SRR, PDR, CDR, Qualification, System Verification & Test, FCA and transition to production
• Demonstrate excellent leadership skills and a proven ability to lead technical efforts with cross-functional teams
• Possess experience and initiative to ensure technical leadership and support for the development process
• Show a strong understanding of Full Spectrum Leadership principles (technical, people, business, strategic).
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills

Location:
This position is located in Dallas, TX and will require occasional domestic travel. The position will require on-site work with the ability to flex working hours.
Basic Qualifications:• Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, with existing professional experience
• Experience and demonstrated skillset with rocket systems/subsystems and design
• Must possess ability to plan and lead the technical efforts associated with rocket systems/subsystems development, qualification, system integration, and flight tests
• Candidate will be required to communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the USG customer
• Must be available for occasional domestic travel
• Candidate must have a Secret clearance
Desired Skills:• An advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is desired
• Prior experience at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is highly desired
• Working knowledge of dealing with subcontractors and subcontract technical management is a plus
• Candidate should have wide experience/familiarity in collaborating with the Engineering & Technology functional organization
• Ability to interface with the USG Customer office and global supply base
• Ability to support technical reviews internally, with the customer, and external stakeholders, and at supplier locations
• Experience in leading Failure Analysis and Failure Review Boards

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
