Caterpillar’s Earthmoving Supply Management team is hiring for Americas Regional Category Procurement Manager for hydraulics in Peoria, IL!
Role Summary: In this role, you’ll lead the Earthmoving Supply Management (EMSM) Americas Hydraulics category, driving continuous improvements in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM). You’ll build strong supplier relationships to execute global category and supplier strategies. You’ll collaborate closely with the global hydraulics category team, Earthmoving hydraulics ICT, and internal operations and product group customers ensuring operational excellence and organizational alignment.
What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
- Drive Strategy: Lead the execution of category and supplier strategies that aligns with our global plan. Collaborate with the supply base to identify and address performance gaps, developing improvement plans based on specific metrics and targets.
- Be the Expert: Serve as the go-to expert for the hydraulic components category in the region, ensuring excellence in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM).
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of 6-7 high-performing team of Buyers and Supplier Development Engineers.
- Mentor and Develop: Develop, mentor, and train your team to deliver the supplier strategy, aligned with our global strategy. Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards and recognize and celebrate employee excellence.
- Strategic Initiatives: Leverage your strong knowledge of products, NPI, and category strategies to support and participate in both category and divisional initiatives. Manage regional suppliers and subcontractors in line with our global organization.
- Collaborative Environment: Work in a highly collaborative environment with the Earthmoving hydraulics and prime product design team, as well as across Caterpillar divisions, to align strategies and maintain strong supplier relationships.
What You Have (Core Skills)
- Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
- Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Business Intelligence: Knowledge of business intelligence; ability to utilize business processes and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data that helps the organization make better business decisions.
- Category Management: Knowledge of category management within an organization's goods and services sector; ability to use this knowledge to analyze and improve the end-to-end procurement process and maximize business profitability.
- Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
- Bachelor’s degree in technical or business curriculum OR demonstrated progressive experience in directly related roles.
- Cross functional leadership experience
- Implemented supplier performance improvement objectives
- Understanding of global trade regulatory impacts

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
