Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Internal Logistics Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Packaging Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to Support Production Operations in Packaging as a Senior Engineer.
Reporting to the Internal Logistics Manager, the person in this role will support the Packaging Department’s Hoshin as related to the senior engineering role.
This position is based San Antonio, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Design and Engineer Packaging
Work with 3rd party Packaging companies and Suppliers to develop and design packaging that will meet safety, quality, cost, and operational targets.
Evaluate issues with packaging and determine design changes to shape, material, quantity
Work with testing facilities to evaluate packaging
Manage multiple model changes at once: Major models can span 3-4 years
Analyze cost impact of new models to packaging costs with limited information by using combinations of current and projected data. Requires individuals to be creative and think outside the box
Develop master schedules, evaluate supplier packaging proposals, work with packaging vendors to order necessary packaging, track and manage all details from beginning to end
Develop KPI to manage key milestones and report out to management
Work with Quality and shop floor groups to determine true root cause of potential packaging caused quality issues
Work closely with suppliers to resolve daily packaging shortages, abnormal packaging costs,
Work with Toyota Motor North America (TMNA corporate Toyota) and Logistics partners to trouble shoot delays in packaging pipeline
Packaging design and unexpected result countermeasures
What you bring
2 years Automotive or Manufacturing Engineering experience
2 years Production Control
Supply chain management or packaging design/Kaizen
Toyota Experience
This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position
