The Role
Position Summary
The Recruiting Consultant leads and manages executive and operational recruiting engagements for single-family office clients.
Our FOS Recruiting practice is highly specialized—focused exclusively on the unique needs of family offices. We offer a tailored and consultative approach, helping clients not only hire the right professionals but also refine their organizational structures, define roles, align compensation, and ensure successful onboarding.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of family office operations, roles, and culture either from working within a family office, multi-family office, RIA or recruiting in the space. They will work closely with FOS leadership and Managing Directors to deliver a full-service, high-touch recruiting experience to our ultra-high-net-worth client families.
General Responsibilities
- Manage and execute full-cycle recruiting engagements for family office clients from inception to close.
- Work closely with clients to understand team structure, operational needs, and culture.
- Develop tailored recruiting strategies and timelines for each engagement.
- Build trusted relationships with client principals, leadership, and HR counterparts.
Recruiting Process & Client Support
- Conduct intake sessions with client leadership to refine position scope, title, reporting, and compensation philosophy.
- Draft and refine detailed job descriptions and role profiles.
- Provide compensation benchmarking data and advise on competitive compensation and benefits packages.
- Source and identify candidates through direct outreach, personal network, database, and referrals.
- Screen and vet candidates thoroughly for qualifications, experience, cultural fit, management style, and discretion.
- Present candidate profiles with detailed assessments to clients.
- Manage candidate communications and shepherd candidates through the client interview process.
- Conduct reference checks and background screenings.
Operational
- Draft job arrangement letter and manage the client acceptance process as well as the client signature process.
- File all paperwork per the SOP manual and manage file organization for all clients and candidates
- Coordinate and schedule interviews between candidates, internal team members, and clients.
- Communicate with clients’ Executive Assistants (EAs) to arrange and confirm debrief meetings following each candidate interview.
- Schedule debrief sessions with candidates after client meetings to gather feedback and insights.
- Maintain and update the candidate database to ensure all contact information, interview schedules, and status updates are current and accurate on a daily basis.
- Format and prepare professional candidate bios, converting them into PDF documents for client presentation.
Team Contributions
- Maintain and grow a network of professionals across all key family office roles (C-level, operations, finance, accounting, legal, HR, property, lifestyle management).
- Collaborate with FOS Consulting team to align recruiting with broader client engagements (new office builds, succession planning, governance work, operational turnarounds).
- Contribute to internal knowledge base on recruiting trends, compensation benchmarks, and market movements within the family office space.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications a plus.
- 5+ years of experience recruiting for family office, wealth management, private investment, or related roles—or direct experience in family office operations with significant talent management/recruiting responsibilities.
- Deep understanding of family office structures, operations, and unique cultural considerations.
- Strong knowledge of executive search, full-cycle recruiting, and candidate assessment best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple searches up to 7 at a time
- Strong technical skills in database management, email, and calendar management to include Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Zoom, Teams.
- Creative thinker with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Professional presence, discretion, and sensitivity to client privacy.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple engagements concurrently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), CRM platforms, and LinkedIn Recruiter a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being, growth, and long-term success of our people. Salary Range: For individuals hired to work in Orange County, CA., or Foster City, CA., or New York, NY, or Chicago, Il., or Dallas, TX., the expected salary range for this role is $80,000. to $110,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skill set.
Benefits: Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage. Employees may enroll in the firm’s 401(k) plan upon hire.
