What this job involves:
As a Capital Accounting Specialist, you will play a strategic role in fixed asset accounting management for JLL operations across Latin America and North America. You will be responsible for ensuring that every capitalization, disposal, and asset transaction is processed with precision and regulatory compliance, directly impacting the financial integrity of multiple regional portfolios. Your work will ensure that financial reports accurately reflect investments in infrastructure and equipment, while collaborating with multicultural teams in a dynamic, high-impact environment. What your day-to-day will look like:
• Process fixed asset capitalizations, disposals, and reclassifications with proper documentation and approvals, ensuring each transaction complies with JLL's internal policies and client accounting standards across Latin America and North America
• Create and close WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) project structures according to approved budgets, maintaining financial information integrity and ensuring correct cost allocation by responsibility center
• Manage requisitions and goods receipt entries in COUPA and JDE platforms, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to guarantee timely transaction recording
• Maintain current and accurate project information in SAP and JDE systems, verifying data consistency across platforms and correcting discrepancies that could affect financial reports
• Provide comprehensive support during internal and external audits, preparing supporting documentation, asset reconciliations, and responding to auditor technical inquiries with detailed analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams from finance, operations, and facility management to resolve asset accounting record inquiries, providing guidance on best practices and applicable policies
• Monitor monthly and quarterly accounting close deadlines, prioritizing critical transactions and proactively escalating any impediments that could affect timely delivery of financial information
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma completed, with technical or university studies in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related fields highly preferred to understand applicable accounting principles
• Advanced English both written and spoken (B2-C1 level), with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multicultural professional environments and draft technical documentation in English
• Minimum 1 year of experience in roles related to fixed asset accounting, accounts payable, financial administration, or transaction processing in corporate systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis), with ability to create financial reports and manipulate large volumes of information with precision
• Exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills, with ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and professional manner
• Strong organizational capabilities and time management, with proven ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in diverse teams, adapting to different work styles and regional organizational cultures
Preferred Qualifications:
• Conversational or higher level Portuguese knowledge, facilitating communication with colleagues and clients in Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking operations in the region
• Previous experience working with SAP systems (FI-AA - Fixed Assets modules preferably) and JDE (JD Edwards EnterpriseOne), with understanding of data structures and accounting transaction flows
• Familiarity with procurement platforms like COUPA or similar purchase management systems, which can be quickly developed through on-the-job training
• Basic knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP) related to recognition, depreciation, and disposal of fixed assets, which can be refreshed or acquired during onboarding
• Previous experience in real estate services companies, facility management, or consulting, providing context about the nature of managed assets and business needs
• Basic accounting or financial certifications (accounting assistant, administrative-accounting assistant) demonstrating commitment to professional development in the financial area
• Proactive attitude to identify opportunities for accounting process improvement, automation of repetitive tasks, and optimization of internal controls that increase team efficiency
