Job Title: Supply Chain Planning Manager
Salary: £57,700 - £72,000 depending on skills demonstrated
Contract: Full time & Contract - position running until 31 December 2027
Location: Desford, Leicestershire — with regular on‑site presence required on non‑travel days.
The Opportunity
As a Supply Chain Planning Manager in Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) Division, you will lead a team responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining processes and practices that ensure a robust plan for every part. You will enable appropriate and timely inventory levels of materials, components, and equipment required to manufacture and deliver products, supporting one or more large manufacturing facilities. This role is also closely linked to multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes that are critical to delivering long‑term strategic initiatives.
What you will do:
As Supply Chain Planning Manager, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
Lead a team of Supply Chain professionals responsible for Supply Chain Planning, Transportation, and Packaging.
Ensure supply chain plans are aligned to current and future business requirements, including capacity, flow, service levels, and efficiency.
Build and manage strong relationships with internal customers, coordinating and integrating end‑to‑end planning processes.
Analyse supply chain performance, including demand forecasts, inventory strategy, on‑time delivery, and throughput, and recommend improvements to enhance overall performance.
Develop, implement, and optimise complex, globally integrated supply chain streams to support both operational stability and strategic growth.

What You Can Demonstrate:
Supply Chain Management – MFG: Deep understanding of supply chain and manufacturing principles (capacity planning, logistics, material flow, inventory, and supplier performance) to manage complexity and influence cross‑functional and supplier outcomes.
Analytical Thinking: Strong capability to interpret complex demand, capacity, and performance data to generate actionable insights, enabling the business to make confident, evidence‑based decisions.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
What You May Have:
Strong end‑to‑end supply chain and operations expertise, spanning planning, manufacturing, logistics and inventory management, enabling informed and strategic decision‑making.
Advanced capability in planning systems (NPE, MRC or similar) to interpret demand signals, model capacity, and strengthen supplier collaboration and performance.
Proven leadership and project delivery experience, directing cross‑functional improvement initiatives and developing others to raise organisational capability.
Solid commercial and continuous‑improvement grounding, including procurement awareness, Lean/Green Belt methods, and Value Stream Mapping, to support strategic sourcing and optimise operational efficiency.
