Role Overview
As a Caterpillar Drawing Standard Checking Engineer, you will perform Teamcenter drawing checking activities in support of multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) and current product improvement programs. This role is a key quality gate in the product lifecycle, ensuring completed designs meet Caterpillar drawing standards and are ready for hand off from design engineering teams to manufacturing facilities.
You will work within a global, diverse engineering community, collaborating with teams across the US, UK, India, and other Caterpillar locations. The role is largely self directed, supported by an experienced team that provides training, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. You will gain exposure to both engineering and manufacturing/procurement processes, add value through problem solving, and contribute to short term execution and long term product quality. Stretch opportunities exist to build capability in data analytics, including Power BI and advanced Excel tools.

Core Responsibilities
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to support new Caterpillar products and improvements to existing products
• Review engineering drawings and models in Teamcenter to ensure compliance with Caterpillar drawing standards
• Check dimensional accuracy, GD&T application, tolerance strategy, drawing completeness, and design intent
• Support engineering change activities by ensuring drawings and notices are properly updated and ready for release
• Provide clear, constructive technical feedback to design engineers and support timely issue resolution
• Support program execution by monitoring progress and contributing technical guidance, training, and best practices
• Assist with reporting and basic data analysis to identify efficiency improvements or cost saving opportunities
• Support manufacturing readiness by ensuring drawing quality and completeness within the CPPD process

Required Qualifications
• Eligible internal candidate with minimum one year in current role or written manager approval; manager must be informed prior to application
• No active disciplinary actions or performance improvement plans
• Mandatory hands on experience with Pro/ENGINEER (Creo)
• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar drawing checking standards and procedures
• Solid understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing/fabrication processes
• Experience with Caterpillar or off highway equipment drawings preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently identify and resolve drawing issues
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team of checking analysts, releasing engineers, and design engineers
• Demonstrated willingness to continuously learn and develop new technical skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Technical college or university degree in an engineering or manufacturing related discipline
• Experience with Teamcenter, EDS, or other PLM systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration tools
• Basic understanding of Caterpillar or similar equipment products and their end customer use
• Interest in data analytics to improve efficiency, quality, and team performance
