Title:
DG BOSS: Computer Electronics Support (FN)
Computer Electronics Support is responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) within the water treatment and distribution facilities to ensure the continuous delivery of safe, clean, and reliable water. This position involves analyzing and resolving complex system faults, responding to emergency situations to minimize downtime. It also involves modifying PLC logic, configuring SCADA software to optimize process performance, managing data backups, and implementing cybersecurity enhancements. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a safety-critical environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, Maintain, and Repair problems related to Automation to minimize interruptions to Water
- Treatment Plant’s ability to carry out mission-critical activities of US Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia.
- Installed automation systems and components are:
- SCADA Computers and Servers in FactoryTalk View Server/Client Setup
- Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Flex I/O, Point I/O) including Programming usingStudio 5000
- Human Machine Interface (Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 1000)
- Variable Frequency Drives (Powerflex 750 and Powerflex 70)
- Network System (Media Converters, and Ethernet Switches, and IP Addresses)
- Ensures SCADA workstations/server/Human Machine Interface (HMI) integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software/hardware solutions.
- Maintains PLC hardware, wiring, loop checking, and updating/modifying its PLC programs.
- Manages system and network communication assets such as ethernet switches, media converters, data cabinets, computers, etc. Ensure the network is secure from cyber-attacks.
- Interprets Electrical Schematic Drawings and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
- Performs periodic preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Maintains proper inventory of equipment, parts and materials related to PLC. Initiates requests for procurement of needed materials.
- Assists in Calibration and Instrumentation work and maintenance of analytical and process instruments, sensors, and transmitters.
- Maintains accurate records and logs, and documentation of work performed.

- SCADA Platform: FactoryTalk View Site Edition
Skills
- Proficient in programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley ControlLogix (1756 series) and CompactLogix (1769 series) PLCs and SCADA FactoryTalk View Site Edition (Server/Client setup).
- Ability to remain calm and productive during Emergency situations.
- Ability to conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Competent in responding to operational emergencies and implementing corrective measures effectively.
- Adept in maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records, logs, and reports.
- Proficiency in using specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and computerized maintenance systems.

- Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
- Must have a valid country of origin’s driver’s license and be able to operate the assigned manual and transmission vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING
- Formal training on Rockwell Automation PLC and SCADA Programming
- Satisfactorily completed the training course and exam provided by the Navy Operator Certification Authority (NOCA) Board.
- Level 1 Overseas Drinking Water Treatment System Operator
- Level 1 Overseas Drinking Water Distribution System Operator
EDUCATION:
- Must be a graduate of Industrial Instrumentation Course, Degree or Diploma.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) Years hands-on experience in programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting Allen- Bradley ControlLogix (1756 series) and CompactLogix (1769 series) PLCs and SCADA FactoryTalk View Site Edition (Server/Client setup).
