Senior Software Engineer - Controls Engineering Tools
The Senior Software Engineer role actively engages in the full life cycle application development including the design, code, test, documentation, training and end user support of embedded controls co-simulation applications. This involves engineering analysis, architectural design and implementation of specialized automotive as well as industry standards-based software applications. The position requires creativity and initiative as well as a high level of independent judgment and technical leadership skills. Lead the development as well as implement major feature enhancements and architectural redesigns for embedded controls software applications in support of co-simulation across cloud/desktop engineering environments. Work collaboratively and effectively on team projects, including remote development team members.
Responsibilities:

Performs complex design analysis, hands-on software development as well as leads small agile teams related to co-simulation of embedded controls systems

Work with GM systems leads to identify, capture and refine system requirements

Lead, coordinate and participate in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews

Interact with internal customers, vendors and external organizations to refine understanding of requirements and identify innovation opportunities

Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among software community
-
Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one platform or application component
Minimum Skills and Experience:
-
5+ years’ experience in full life cycle software engineering
-
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering (MS preferred)

Strong background leading agile teams as Scrum Manager / Scrum Leader and Product Owner
-
Strong work experience in object-oriented programming (OOP) and C#/.NET framework/.NET
-
Experience in C, C++, Java, or Python programming

Strong background in ASAM, Modelica FMI/SSP, SAE standards as related Measurement, Simulation, Data Collection and Controls

Understanding of Automotive controls lifecycle (Controls requirements, algorithm development, coding, calibration, validation, release, flashing, and field updates)

Knowledge of embedded programming, communication protocols and tools, data optimization methods and analysis, control systems development

Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Large Language Models and their application to engineering problems

High level of organizational and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and in team environment
