As a Test Automation Developer on our Angular product team, you will design, build, and maintain automated tests using Playwright to ensure our customer-facing web experiences are reliable, accessible, and performant. You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, and quality engineers to embed testing into the development lifecycle and support continuous delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement end-to-end UI test automation for Angular applications using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).
Build and maintain reliable, reusable test frameworks, page objects, and utilities that can be extended by the team.
Collaborate with developers and product owners to translate requirements and user flows into test scenarios and automation coverage.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions/Harness/Jenkins) and keep builds green and meaningful.
Monitor, triage, and debug flaky or failing tests, working with engineers to identify root causes and improve application/test design.
Define and track test coverage across critical user journeys, regression packs, smoke tests, and production validation checks.
Contribute to test data strategy (creating, managing, and cleaning test data for repeatable tests).
Champion quality engineering practices: shift-left testing, code reviews for test code, pairing with developers, and improving tooling and standards.
Support accessibility, performance, and security considerations within automated test suites where appropriate.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in test automation for web applications.
Strong programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript.
Hands-on experience building UI test automation with Playwright (or equivalent modern browser automation tools, with willingness to move to Playwright).
Experience testing Angular or other modern SPA frameworks (React, Vue, etc.), including working with dynamic DOM, routes, and APIs.
Solid understanding of testing best practices (unit, integration, E2E, smoke, regression, test pyramid, mocking, and stubs).
Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with Git-based workflows.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across UI, API, and environment issues.
Comfortable working in an agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with page object patterns, test design patterns, and modular test frameworks.
Exposure to API testing (e.g., Postman, REST clients, or Playwright API testing).
Experience with cloud-based environments and containerized test execution (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and practices for web applications.
Experience in large, regulated, or enterprise environments (financial services/insurance a plus).
What You Bring
A developer mindset applied to testing: you treat automation as a product with its own design, architecture, and quality bar.
A focus on maintainability and reliability over one-off scripts.
Strong communication skills and a willingness to pair, mentor, and share best practices with the team.
