The Advanced Solutions team within the Data & AI Enablement Org is seeking an AI/ML engineer to support the AI Strategy Acceleration portfolio. Teams within the portfolio focus on standardized and accelerated agentic development and ontology generation that enables semantic data discovery, reasoning, and information retrieval. The AI Strategy Acceleration Portfolio provides solutions and capabilities that underpin all AI solutions within the Advanced Solutions Division. In addition to tackling development work the team will help facilitate training and the exploration of cutting-edge technologies. What You Will Be Doing:
In this role, you will work closely with a team of experts in AI, software engineering, and systems development. You will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that support the organization's goals and objectives for information retrieval. You will develop solutions that inform data-driven decision making and help the organization stay ahead of the curve. You will architect, deploy, and support enterprise scaled services hosted on Cloud and on-premise technologies. This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to learn and grow, mentor, and make meaningful contributions to the team's efforts.

Basic Qualifications:•Proven full-stack software development experience. Advanced/senior coding/development experience with Python (advanced proficiency, can mentor others)
•Demonstrated experience with architecting and maintaining Information Retrieval and Sematic discovery systems
•Proven Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) deploying applications on cloud-based platforms and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
•Experience handling the entire life cycle of an AI-powered application. Experience managing cloud deployments and MLOps to keep systems running. Experience with LLMs and/or Generative AI. Demonstrated experience with API design and specifications (REST/OpenAPI, JSON/JSON-Schema). You’ve built and managed APIs and back-end systems
•Demonstrated experience maintaining/managing github/gitlab projects with multiple developers on it
•Demonstrated strategic use of GenAI Coding Assistants

Desired Skills:• Practical experience with production level LLM Tool Calling workflows
• Proven design and delivery experience in API Development & Integration
• Proven Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or OpenShift pipelines)
• Data engineering experience including designing/deploying/maintaining ETLs, and creating/managing RDS
• Production level Information retrieval and semantic data discovery development experience (e.g. Experience with Vector Databases, k-NN, and Semantic Search)
• Advanced proficiency in at least two other languages (e.g., Java, C++, Go, Rust) with contributions to core services written in those languages.
• Expertise and strategic use of GenAI Coding Assistants
• Experience with agent development using various agentic tools and frameworks. Experience with autonomous workflows, Agentic devOps, and the Agentic development Lifecycle
• Excellent communication and liaison experience with external technical partners, customers, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Experienced in agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $152,900 - $264,960. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
