The Air Traffic Systems organization within Collins Aerospace (legacy Raytheon) is seeking a temporary, part‑time, Radar and Signal Processing Specialist to support advanced design, development, integration, test, and defect resolution of next‑generation radar sensors. This role focuses heavily on high‑fidelity modeling, algorithm development, simulation, system analysis, and performance characterization for critical air traffic and weather surveillance radar systems.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external customers to drive enhancements that improve detection performance, clutter suppression, Doppler estimation, and overall radar capability.
What You Will Do
· Develop and evaluate advanced radar and signal‑processing algorithms.
· Perform modeling, simulation, and system-level performance analysis (detection, Doppler, clutter).
· Operate and assess radar systems across multiple U.S. sites.
· Design and propose enhancements to radar architecture (hardware and software), algorithms, and processing chains.
· Implement software‑based system modifications and support integration/test cycles.
· Collaborate across systems/software engineering, suppliers, and customers in an agile workflow.
Qualifications You Must Have
· Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
· Experience with AESA radar systems.
· U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
· System‑level hardware/software integration expertise with strong troubleshooting skills.
· Simulation and analysis experience using Matlab, Python, or similar tools.
· Experience operating RF test equipment (spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes).
Qualifications We Prefer
· C++/Java, Linux, and Git/Bitbucket.
· Experience developing software‑defined or embedded radar systems.
· Knowledge of real‑time computing and embedded signal‑processing architectures.
· Experience analyzing air traffic surveillance systems (including surface movement radars and precision approach radars) and AESA-based weather radars.
· Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and suppliers on safety‑critical systems.
This is a temporary position of undetermined length.

The hourly rate for this role is $75.57 to $143.65. The compensation range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
