Summary:
KPMG International (KPMGI) is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead complex, ongoing procurement projects that drive transformation within our Global Procurement Operations & Infrastructure team. In this strategic role, you will independently manage end-to-end projects, from concept through execution, aimed at enhancing procurement processes, systems, and efficiencies across our global network. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with 5–7 years of project management experience (especially in multinational environments) and brings strong expertise in procurement, finance, and enterprise system implementation. This is a high-impact position interfacing with cross-functional internal teams and external vendors/partners to deliver solutions that support KPMGI’s procurement operations on a global scale. If you are a proactive leader with a passion for driving excellence in procurement and technology, we invite you to join our team and help shape the future of procurement at KPMGI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Complex Global Projects: Plan, execute, and oversee multiple procurement and systems implementation projects that support the Procurement Operations & Infrastructure function. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while meeting quality standards.
- End-to-End Project Management: Develop comprehensive project plans, define project scope and objectives, and manage all phases of the project lifecycle – initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. Proactively manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and risks, implementing mitigation plans as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and senior leadership within KPMGI’s Global Procurement team. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional internal teams (Procurement, Finance, IT, etc.) and external parties such as vendors, suppliers, or implementation partners. Ensure alignment of project goals with stakeholder expectations and contractual obligations.
- Procurement Process & Systems Improvement: Leverage your strong background in procurement operations and finance to identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation. Drive the design and implementation of improved procurement workflows, policies, and best practices that enhance efficiency, compliance, and transparency
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: Work closely with the Procurement Operations & Infrastructure leadership to align project objectives with the organization’s strategic goals. Prepare regular project status reports and dashboards for leadership, highlighting progress, achievements, risks, and value delivered. Use insights and analytics to measure project success and inform future procurement strategy.
- Team Leadership & Governance: Coordinate and motivate project team members to ensure clarity of roles, accountability, and high performance. Establish proper project governance and steering committees; facilitate project meetings, executive briefings, and stakeholder workshops. Champion project management best practices and a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Change Management: Partner with change management and procurement operations colleagues to drive user adoption of new processes and systems. Develop training plans, documentation, and communications to ensure smooth transition and buy-in from procurement users and other impacted stakeholders. Address operational challenges, provide post-implementation support, and ensure that project benefits are sustained.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or equivalent formal project management certification such as PRINCE2) is required, demonstrating thorough training in project management best practices.
- Project Management Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience in project management, with a proven track record of leading complex, large-scale projects. Experience should include managing projects in procurement, supply chain, finance, or system implementation domains. Background in handling multinational or global projects, coordinating across different countries, time zones, and cultures is strongly preferred.
- Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of procurement operations and financial processes. Familiarity with procurement lifecycle (sourcing, contracting, purchase-to-pay) and finance concepts (budgeting, cost control, ROI) is essential to effectively drive projects that impact these areas.
- Technical Skills: Experience leading system implementation or integration projects (e.g. ERP, procurement or financial systems). Hands-on experience with SAP and Coupa (or similar procurement and spend management tools) is highly desirable. Ability to leverage technology to improve processes and data analytics capabilities in procurement is a plus.
- Leadership & Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take ownership of projects, and drive initiatives to completion. Self-motivated and proactive in identifying needs, proposing solutions, and executing plans. Experience guiding cross-functional teams or working in a matrix organization.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels – from team members to senior executives – and to build strong relationships with internal partners and external vendors/clients. Comfort in presenting project updates and proposals to leadership.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Adept at using data and metrics to inform decision-making and to measure project performance. Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity, troubleshoot issues, and adapt plans in response to changing requirements or risks.
- Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring attention to detail while keeping sight of the big-picture goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Education: Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or a relevant field.
- Additional Certifications: Agile/Scrum certifications or specialized training in change management or process improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) are advantageous.
- Industry Experience: Experience working in a professional services firm or in a complex global corporate environment. Familiarity with KPMG or similar organizations’ structure and operations is a plus, as is exposure to procurement consulting or advisory projects.
- Technical Proficiency: Deeper expertise in procurement technologies (e.g., SAP, Coupa, or other Source-to-Pay platforms) and data analysis tools.
Soft Skills & Competencies:
- Leadership & Initiative: Inspiring leader who can rally teams around a vision. A self-starter who takes initiative and demonstrates a high degree of ownership.
- Collaboration: Excellent collaborator who works effectively across cross-functional teams and can coordinate between business and technical stakeholders. Culturally aware and able to collaborate in a diverse, global environment.
