Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer/Data Scientist with a strong data analytics mindset and the ability to turn insights into sound business decisions.
The primary responsibility of this role is managing the functionality and enhancement of Toyota’s Supplier KPI system, applying rigorous analytical thinking to supply chain performance data to identify, summarize and visualize supplier performance gaps or risks for supply disruption.
The person in this role will support PSD’s objective to develop our outsourced supply base utilizing data-driven performance insights to ensure overall best cost, quality, manufacturability, and operational self-reliance. The candidates should consistently demonstrate attributes of next level capability as outlined in the Toyota Core Competencies and meets expectations of current position.
This position is located in Saline, Michigan and requires an onsite presence.
What you’ll be doing
Ensuring data integrity and functionality within supplier performance data systems and enhancing automation of data flows.
Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI or Qlik.
Building predictive models to support decision making in areas like supplier performance and improvement and supply disruption risk.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, logistics) to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or other technical related degrees.
3+ years of experience in Data Analytics, preferably within Manufacturing or Automotive Supply Chain.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
Strong Data analytics expertise visualization tools; workflow automation; data engineering; Excel/VBA; and enterprise systems.
Must have experience collaborating with Scrum-Based Systems’ teams for enterprise software management & enhancement.
Experience in ambiguous environments and thrives in iterative development processes.
Current working schedule is Hybrid. The requirement is an onsite presence Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and working remotely Monday and Friday. This schedule supports the needs of the business and subject to future modifications.
Added bonus if you have
Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or other technical related degrees.
Familiarity with automotive standards (IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP).
Predictive modeling in areas such as supplier performance.
Gen AI Machine Learning: Experience building predictive modeling using machine learning techniques.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
Critical thinking and customer-focused problem-solving mindset.
Strong communication skills to bridge technical insights with operational strategy.
