Who we’re looking for
The Legal Department for Toyota Financial Services is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Litigation & Subpoena Senior Paralegal.
The primary responsibility of this role is to work with the Legal Litigation & Subpoena Team to support litigation cases/issues and process subpoenas timely.
Reporting to the Managing Counsel-Litigation, the person in this role will support the Legal Department’s objective to analyze legal and factual issues relating to civil litigation against TFS and make internal assessment of potential exposure to TFS.
This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Use appropriate department tools to manage work – TeamConnect and Net Documents.
Assist with management of all civil litigation, including small claims, class actions, arbitrations and subpoenas involving TFS
Partner with internal and external counsel as lead to prepare and review litigation documents to meet outside counsel’s timelines. Includes organize and/or maintain schedules, calendaring of deadlines, depositions, litigation holds, review pleadings and develop strategy with supervising counsel to proactively resolve litigation.
Develop and maintain reporting to senior management regarding litigation matters and spot trends; work with the compliance dept. and other members of legal staff to develop policies, procedures, and training as needed.
Identify opportunities for collaboration both within the department and with external business units.
Strong negotiation skills to settle lawsuits with outside counsel.
Intake and processing of subpoenas.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree (or higher), or equivalent professional work experience relevant to this position
5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal providing legal litigation support for in-house counsel or law firm
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Added bonus if you have
Consumer finance litigation experience
Board Certified Paralegal (BCP) through Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS)
Proficiency with TeamConnect and Net Documents
