Within Core AI, the Azure AI Search team delivers high-scale, enterprise-grade search and retrieval capabilities used by applications across industries. We integrate Microsoft AI for content understanding, relevance, and performance, enabling everything from traditional search to state-of-the-art retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Our team is at the forefront of this transformation, building the next generation of retrieval systems that sit at the center of Microsoft’s AI platform strategy.
The Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team at a pivotal moment. This role offers a unique opportunity to own and shape critical features of a globally distributed Azure service that is central to the AI innovation wave. You will work on core service infrastructure that directly impacts developers and customers building AI-powered applications at scale. Responsibilities
- Work with a passionate team of engineers to deliver success for customers
- Design, implement, test, ship, and support large scale services and components powering Azure AI Search experiences with industry leading quality, performance, scalability, reliability, and security
- Collaborate with Product managers on product specifications and requirements
- Solve complex problems with a growth mindset

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
