We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to oversee health, safety, and environmental (EH&S) programs for our busy JFK and LGA airport shuttle bus operations.
This is a field-based position with direct responsibility for coordinating safety initiatives that protect our employees, passengers, and the public. You will be the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters across both airport locations, ensuring that our operations meet or exceed federal, state, local, and company safety requirements. You’ll work hand-in-hand with operations leaders, drivers, and maintenance teams to not only maintain compliance but to build a safety-first mindset across the organization.
Pay: $33.75 per hour. The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

- Safety Program Leadership: Implement, manage, and continuously improve ABM’s EH&S programs at JFK and LGA shuttle bus operations.
- Risk Identification & Mitigation: Conduct regular on-site risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and inspections to identify hazards and implement effective controls.
- Incident Investigation: Lead thorough accident investigations, identify root causes, and develop preventive strategies to eliminate repeat incidents.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, and all applicable airport authority regulations, ensuring documentation, training records, and reporting are accurate and up to date.
- Training & Engagement: Coordinate and deliver engaging safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety meetings that resonate with employees and encourage proactive hazard reporting.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Track and analyze safety metrics, including accident trends, unsafe driving habits, and field observations; prepare reports and recommend data-driven improvements.
- Safety Culture Building: Actively promotes a culture of accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Emergency Response: Be available to respond to urgent safety incidents during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with local, regional, and national teams to support organizational safety objectives and contribute to long-term initiatives.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (preferred).
- 2–5+ years of progressive experience in safety and risk management, preferably in transportation or fleet operations.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other transportation safety regulations.
- Experience with CDL Class B operations and 19A program compliance strongly preferred.
- OSHA 10 is a plus.
- Proven ability to deliver impactful training and influence safety behavior across a diverse workforce.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license required.
