Senior Database Engineer
About your role:
As a Database Administrator, you will be deeply involved in all aspects of designing, managing, and optimizing our data infrastructure. You will help provide the foundation that powers our product platforms, while partnering with internal teams to ensure data reliability, performance, and scalability across Fiserv systems. You’ll also play a key role in evaluating and adopting new database technologies to help move the organization forward.
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and high-performing database systems, with a primary focus on MySQL.
- Support and optimize current database infrastructure, ensuring performance, availability, resilience, and proper monitoring.
- Troubleshoot database issues in collaboration with infrastructure and development teams.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to client integrations and data workflows, developing industry-standard solutions.
- Administer and support additional database platforms such as Oracle and Couchbase where applicable.
- Continuously evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend improvements to modernize our data ecosystem.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and effectively collaborate across teams.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Senior-level experience administering and optimizing MySQL databases in production environments.
- Working knowledge of Oracle databases is a plus
- Experience with Couchbase or other NoSQL databases is a plus
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability strategies.
- Experience with database monitoring, instrumentation, and observability tools.
- Curiosity and willingness to explore and adopt new technologies.
