The Material Controller will operate within a storage facility supporting a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) & Avionics Top Level Unit manufacturing area. The role is responsible for ensuring world-class material flow, storage, accuracy, quality, and kitting. This position is hands-on and customer-focused, supporting production through effective material control, stock management, and timely fulfilment of material requests in line with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Material Handling & Flow
Perform physical movement of materials, including picking, packing, labelling, put-away, and dispatch.
Ensure materials are stored, handled, and presented in accordance with aerospace, ESD, and MSD standards.
Prepare and kit materials for production in line with the production schedule and ramp-up plans.
Inventory & Stock Control
Maintain accurate stock records within the ERP or inventory management system.
Execute inventory transactions (issues, transfers, adjustments) in a timely and correct manner.
Support periodic cycle counts and stock-take to minimise inventory discrepancies and losses.
Production Support
Release Work Orders for the Materials team in line with the agreed production plan.
Fulfil all material requests within the assigned shift pattern to avoid line stops and delays.
Work closely with Operations, Planning, and Quality to ensure material availability and readiness.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
Participate in daily meetings/rhythms to review performance and discuss key performance indicators.
Apply problem-solving skills to resolve material-related queries quickly and effectively.
Support leadership on process improvement initiatives to reduce turn-around-time (TAT), improve material presentation, and minimise inventory losses.
Deliver on personal objectives aligned to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
Housekeeping & Compliance
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with 5S and site standards.
Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and quality procedures and policies.
Desired Characteristics
Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills, able to interact effectively with colleagues across functions.
Experience: Material handling experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally including ESD and MSD-controlled areas.
Customer Focus: Ability to manage and reprioritise workload in line with changing customer and production requirements.
Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a wider operations and supply chain team.
Systems Knowledge: Working knowledge of an ERP or inventory management system.
Organisation: Moderate planning and organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and a structured, problem-solving approach to work.
Qualifications & Requirements
IT literate, with moderate confidence using standard PC packages (for example, email, spreadsheets, and office applications).
Experience using ERP planning systems or an equivalent inventory management system.
