The Building Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This role supports day-to-day facility operations, ensures system reliability, and maintains compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, air compressors, and related equipment.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on facility systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
• Maintain pumps, valves, piping, and distribution systems.
• Monitor building automation systems (BMS).
• Perform preventative maintenance programs.
• Respond to alarms and emergency situations.
• Maintain maintenance logs and documentation.
• Oversee contractors and vendors.
• Support cleanroom environments where applicable.
• Ensure OSHA and safety compliance.
• Maintain life safety systems.
• Perform general maintenance tasks (carpentry, painting, repairs).
• Adjust systems for seasonal efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High school diploma required; trade certification preferred Experience:
• 3–5+ years in facilities or building maintenance
• HVAC and mechanical systems experience required Skills:
• Strong HVAC and building systems knowledge
• Basic electrical and control systems knowledge
• Ability to read schematics and drawings
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ability to lift and work in mechanical spaces
• On-call availability required • PPE required
