Cybersecurity Business and Strategy Manager
Role Definition:
The Cybersecurity Business and Strategy Manager is a senior cybersecurity role at Caterpillar. This position requires a highly resourceful, experienced, and self-driven leader who can partner across the enterprise, execute effectively, and lead through influence.
What You Will Do:
Lead cybersecurity strategic planning and oversee project and program execution.
Drive strategic initiatives and represent the Cybersecurity team across a wide range of enterprise engagements, reinforcing that secure access to information, data, networks, and operations is essential to business objectives.
Develop and implement strategic and operational processes that enable business outcomes while mitigating risk.
Lead 3 managers and an organization of approximately 15 Caterpillar employees and external consultants.
Advise the CISO with strategic recommendations and lead key initiatives and projects on behalf of the Cybersecurity leadership team.
What You Have:
Strategy Development and Execution:
Providing vision and leadership in the development and execution of an enterprise information security strategy and roadmap, including aligning with enterprise business strategy, gaining executive approval and support, and overseeing successful execution.
Providing overall information security services and information security technology infrastructure and data to support critical business and process requirements.
Build and maintain internal and external relationships to influence information security policy, standards, and programs, to enhance secure interoperability with extended entities.
Providing regular reports to the CISO and other senior leaders.
Directing strategic alliances and partnerships for mutual benefit.
Making sound business decisions on behalf of the group when faced with complex and contradictory alternatives.
Building the strategic thinking capability of the group.
Recommending ways to position the organization for long-term competitiveness.
Budget and Finance Management:
Leading budget, finance and execution on behalf of the Cybersecurity Organization to ensure optimization of resources.
Works closely with other Cybersecurity leaders to ensure high quality forecasting and execution of Cybersecurity spend.
Consulting in the development of IT strategies for business units as an advisor on information security risks.
Developing close relationships with management of operating groups globally to help evaluate key risks.
Leveraging information security investments to enhance business, administration, and compliance processes.
Vendor Management and Contract Negotiation:
Manages policies, practices, and operations for the selection, negotiation, and purchasing/licensing of technology.
Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Leads complex, high-impact or volatile negotiations involving high business risks.
Advocates a win-win approach to negotiating.
Negotiates complex matters involving multiple parties.
Knowledge of product and vendor evaluation; ability to implement processes for the evaluation and selection of products, tools, services and infrastructure components ensuring they are in line with an organization's business needs and architectural principles.
Advises on appropriate solutions to complex multiple vendor problems.
Optimizes standard processes to maximize the efficiency of organizational products or services.
Knowledge of the contractual and legal matters related to expenditures (consulting services, maintenance, agreements, acquisitions, outsourcing, etc.); ability to evaluate, interpret and improve the language used in contractual agreements.
Coach’s others on advanced methods and operational considerations of contract reviews.
Reviews and ensures compliance with relevant organizational and legal policies and procedures.
Teaches proper evaluation and interpretation of the language used in contracts.
Increases the accuracy and efficiency of contracts review through process improvement.
Assists in designing criteria for reviewing organizational contracts.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
Extensive experience with leadership in information security policy, strategy, standards, technology, vendor management and budget and finance programs.
Strong understanding of information security and the relationship between threat, vulnerability, and information value in the context of risk management.
A proven history of developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy and plan for managing information security.
An understanding and application of information security in diverse cultures, working across different countries, and experience in an international environment.
Experience in a leadership role, high level analytical skills, exceptional relationship management competencies, and relevant project management work experience with a demonstrated record to lead and execute information security compliance and risk mitigation programs.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
One or more active certifications: CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP or CFE.
Other related certifications such as ITIL, PMP, SANS/GSEC, CIPP, CGEIT, CPA/CA.
Extensive knowledge of company products and policies, organizational units, and strategic direction with demonstrated diversity in thought and skill.
Experience with a global company leading organizational change.
Bachelor of Science Degree or relevant experience.
Additional Info:
The primary location for this position is Irving, TX, Nashville, TN or Peoria, IL.
This position requires you to work in the office 5 days a week.

Consulting Process & Tools: Knowledge of consulting process; ability to engage in planning sales, conducting research and analysis, finding solutions, and preparing recommendations.

Summary Pay Range:
$172,630.00 - $258,950.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
