The Supply Chain Planning Engineer provides leadership in strategic enterprise and facility capacity planning for Caterpillar product groups and manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on establishing capacity needs, executing statistical analysis of product demand, and delivering insights into current‑state capabilities and future requirements.
The position plays a key role in enabling enterprise‑wide capacity and agility by facilitating standardized capacity planning processes and leading cross‑functional initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with an engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain background who are ready to expand into broader enterprise leadership responsibilities.
What you will do:
Provide leadership in strategic capacity planning for Caterpillar facilities and product groups.
Lead cross‑functional projects focused on capacity, agility, and associated supply chain concepts.
Facilitate the EPP enterprise capacity process and component capacity planning process.
Support planning and execution of the enterprise capacity planning transformational program.
Identify, define, and lead implementation of integrated supply chain solutions and performance improvements.
Establish and strengthen effective partnerships and best practices with business partners and internal functions.
Investigate and incorporate industry benchmarks, metrics, and best practices to develop optimal supply chain for suppliers and/or product sets.
Lead the development and analyze data to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve facility capacity and supply chain performance.
What skills you will have:
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine root causes of organizational problems and create alternative solutions.
Cross‑Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter‑team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results, with the ability to lead employees across multiple functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate to solve problems as one team.
Supplier and Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of supplier management and supply chain management principles, processes, and methods used in a manufacturing environment to manage supplier relationships, transactions, and to control, coordinate, and improve logistical and manufacturing operations.
Top candidates will also have:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent bachelor’s degree with extensive related experience.
3+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Manufacturing
Exposure to manufacturing operations, including machining processes.
Background in a technical or operational role, with interest in advancing into a leadership position.
Additional Information
Location: The location for this position is Peoria, IL and requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week.
Relocation: Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
Travel: This position will require 10-25% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
