Title: Lead Telecommunication Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Senior Lead Telecommunication Engineer and support the overall delivery and governance of the Telecommunication and Security Systems discipline within EPCM projects.
- Act as the Lead Telecommunication Engineer responsible for the end‑to‑end EPCM delivery of assigned Telecom / TSI engineering scopes in accordance with KBR procedures, project execution plans, and client requirements.
- Develop and deliver all Telecommunication and Security System engineering deliverables, including design basis, system specifications, scopes of work, material take‑offs, and Bills of Materials, under the technical oversight of the Senior Lead.
- Prepare, review, and issue telecom system architectures, including block diagrams, layouts, sketches, schedules, and associated technical documentation for FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
- Review, validate, and technically endorse telecom engineering studies, including:
- PAGA coverage studies
- Radio coverage studies
- VSAT and microwave link calculations
- Fibre optic link budgets and topology design
- Prepare technical requisitions and support or lead technical bid evaluations, ensuring vendor compliance with project specifications, applicable international standards, and approved design philosophies.
- Perform and review telecom‑related power consumption, heat dissipation, space, and weight calculations to support multi‑discipline design coordination.
- Interface with the Client on assigned scopes to address technical queries, resolve comments, and propose compliant engineering solutions, escalating decisions to the Senior Lead where required.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project management, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure effective system integration and interface management.
- Ensure assigned telecom engineering deliverables comply with KBR quality requirements, approved project specifications, applicable standards, and agreed schedules, and are aligned with discipline guidance from the Senior Lead.
- Provide technical support during procurement, FAT, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities as required by the EPCM scope.
- Support knowledge sharing, standardisation, and consistency within the telecom discipline, and provide guidance to junior engineers.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (Telecommunications or equivalent).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Telecom Detailed Engineering within Oil & Gas EPC/EPCM projects.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable international codes and standards (IEC, ITU‑T, TIA/EIA, ISO/EN) relevant to telecom and security systems.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing telecom studies, calculations, and design deliverables.
- Proven ability to develop clear, complete, and unambiguous telecom specifications suitable for EPCM execution.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with experience working in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑cultural teams.
- Proactive, delivery‑focused team player with strong technical judgement, attention to detail, and commitment to engineering quality.
