Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join a quantitative team that is primarily responsible for credit risk modeling, while also taking lead on other risk type models spanning liquidity risk, operational risk and FX risk.
The Senior Quantitative Specialist will take a lead role in the development and management of quantitative risk techniques, contributing as a senior developer as well as taking accountability for key model outputs across the team.
The role holder will report to the Head of Risk Modelling Europe, developing, maintaining and monitoring risk models pertaining to credit provisions, capital planning, and loss forecasting.
The successful candidate will have an important role within the Credit Risk team and will be responsible for:
Developing and maintaining quantitative risk models enabling effective risk management of the portfolio.
Maintain strong end‑to‑end control over the IFRS 9 provisioning process, including model execution, assumptions, expert judgment, overlays and post‑model adjustments.
Take a lead role in stress testing the credit portfolio as an integral part of US Bank Europe’s Stress Testing framework.
Take a lead role in model monitoring activity, including oversight and design of the monitoring pipeline.
Provide technical guidance to senior and junior developers across the quantitative team.
Liaising with internal model management teams to ensure model governance requirements are being met.
Liaising with audit teams on credit modelling and being accountable for resolution to audit queries.
Aligning applied methodologies with regulatory requirements as necessary.
Collaboration with Finance teams and business lines to align quantitative design with business models.
Required Skills & Experience:
8+ years’ experience working in related roles (risk modelling, data science, statistical analysis etc.)
At minimum a bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering/Computer Science/Economics etc.
Relevant experience performing data analysis and data transformation.
Proficient in SAS/SQL/Python/R programming (any mix of these and willing to learn others).
A determined problem solver with strong analytical skillset and good report writing capabilities.
An advanced level of presentation and relationship building skills.
Proven self-starter and team player.
Experience with wholesale and/or corporate credit portfolios is a distinct advantage.
Familiarity with IFRS 9, EBA’s Capital Requirements Regulation and banking regulation in general would be a benefit.
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
