Industrial Generator Sales Representative

Position Overview
Generator Source is seeking a motivated and experienced Industrial Generator Sales Representative to support the continued growth of our equipment and rental business. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer relationships, and driving revenue across generator sales.
This position requires a consultative, relationship-driven sales approach supported by a solid understanding of industrial equipment and applications. The successful candidate will be effective in both field-based business development and managing complex sales cycles.
This is not an entry-level position. Qualified candidates must have demonstrated experience selling industrial or technical products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, municipalities, data centers, oil & gas, and other industrial clients
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and outbound sales efforts
- Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, quoting, negotiation, and closing
- Sell new and used industrial generators,
- Coordinate with internal teams (service, logistics, and operations) to ensure successful project execution
- Prepare and present quotes, proposals, and technical solutions tailored to customer needs
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and pricing trends
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales activity, pipeline, and customer data in Salesforce
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance expectations
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of outside sales experience in industrial equipment, power generation, heavy equipment, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated success selling high-value, technical products or solutions with longer sales cycles
- Strong understanding of generator systems, load requirements, and power applications (standby, prime, and mobile) preferred
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, site requirements, and customer power needs
- Proven track record of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships
- Experience of working with contractors, project managers, and decision-makers in industrial or construction environments
- Strong negotiation and closing skills in competitive sales environments
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a field-based role
- Proficiency with CRM systems; hands-on experience with Salesforce strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience selling industrial generators, switchgear, or power distribution equipment
- Background in electrical systems, diesel engines, or mechanical systems
- Existing network within construction, electrical contracting, data center, or industrial markets
- Experience with both equipment sales and rental solutions
- Familiarity with jobsite operations, temporary power setups, and emergency response environments
