Job Description Summary
The First Article Inspection Quality Specialist is responsible for reviewing engineering drawings and technical product definitions to develop and execute First Article Inspection plans that ensure hardware conformity and quality system compliance. This role supports Marine and Industrial engine programs, including LM2500, LM6000, LMS100, and legacy programs such as CF6 and F110, with a focus on enabling safe, compliant, and timely engine shipment. The position requires blueprint interpretation, dimensional inspection, and strong cross-functional execution with engineering, planning, and operations teams to resolve issues and maintain product flow. This role is expected to uphold Safety first, followed by Quality, Delivery, and Productivity, while supporting accurate documentation and continuous improvement within the quality system.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to determine First Article Inspection requirements and product acceptance criteria.
- Interpret blueprints and perform dimensional inspection activities to verify hardware conformance to design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and execute First Article Inspection plans in accordance with applicable business processes, quality requirements, and customer expectations.
- Perform First Article Inspection activities for components and assemblies supporting Marine and Industrial engine programs.
- Compile, validate, and upload First Article Inspection documentation and records into ECAV in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
- Partner with engineering to resolve drawing issues, clarify technical requirements, and address product or documentation discrepancies.
- Work closely with planning, operations, and other cross-functional teams to support execution priorities and help ensure engines are shipped in compliance with the quality system.
- Support product quality and inspection readiness across LM2500, LM6000, LMS100, CF6, and F110 programs.
- Identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities that may affect Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and support compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and regulatory standards as applicable.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen inspection effectiveness, process discipline, and overall business performance.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering
