MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented
Electrical Designer to join our team in
Chesapeake, VA. This is a Partially Remote position.
The technician will serve as a senior technical authority supporting U.S. Navy small boats and craft, providing advanced engineering and lifecycle sustainment. In this role, you will create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and layouts for electrical systems for Navy small boats using AutoCAD software. You will perform load calculations, select components, and ensure compliance with safety codes. This role will collaborate with engineers to support technical solutions for NSWC Combatant Craft Division.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Design & Modeling: Create electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD
- System Design: Design and modify power distribution, communications and control systems for shipboard systems
- Calculations & Specs: Perform electrical load calculations, sizing, and equipment specifications
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to ABYC, Navy and DoD electrical codes
- Site Support: Conduct site visits in the Norfolk, VA area to verify as-built conditions and validate design concepts
- Coordination: Collaborate with engineers and waterfront technician teams to resolve design conflicts
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 3+ years of experience with electrical systems, understanding of electrical theory, Navy shipboard systems, and/or electrical code requirements
- Proficient in using AutoCAD to prepare detailed drawings, schematics and layouts from "as-built" documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical degree/certification
- Experience with Navy small boats
Clearance Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit at a computer 40 hours /week (can be at home) in some weeks, and in other weeks, attend a half-day trip locally to conduct a boat check. Boat access may require climbing a ladder.
