Located at the Cambridge Crossing site in Cambridge, MA, the Discovery Immunology team is seeking a skilled and motivated Scientist with experience in various aspects of cell and molecular biology, immunology and in vitro pharmacology. This person will focus on establishing and executing immunology assays to support in vitro and ex vivo models for validation of therapeutic targets. The desired candidate will be well-versed in various biochemical, cellular, and immunological techniques in the laboratory, but also have an insatiable curiosity to lead them towards continually expanding their scientific profile. This individual will demonstrate sophisticated scientific thinking and have the capacity/eagerness to rise to challenges. A strong work ethic, good judgement, and the ability to work equally well in a team or independently are key qualities in the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize and execute in vitro and ex vivo cell-based experiments using techniques including genetic manipulations, transfection, confocal imaging, flow cytometry, ELISAs, qPCR, cell viability and death assays, and other molecular biology read-outs to drive early discovery efforts.
- Design sophisticated cross-disciplinary experiments within project teams to enable the progression of therapeutic candidates through the drug pipeline.
- Develop therapeutic hypotheses for autoimmune disease(s) based on literature discoveries and in vitro experimental data.
- Collaborate alongside a cross-functional team to discover new targets, derive new biological mechanistic insights, and support programs as they move through pre-clinical development.
- Excellent communication, record keeping, presentation, collaboration and organizational skills are required.
- Travel will be less than 5% of the time.
Qualifications & Experience
- Research experience in inflammatory & autoimmune diseases, molecular immunology and/or cancer immunotherapy is required.
- A sophisticated understanding of experimental design and the ability to identify and resolve scientific problems.
- Extensive hands-on experience in cell lines and isolation, culture, and characterization of primary immune cells from human or animal tissues is required.
- Experience with cell-based assays, multiplex cytokine read-out platforms such as Luminex and MSD genetic manipulations, transfection, confocal imaging, flow cytometry, ELISAs, qPCR, and cell viability is highly desirable.
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in the field of biology, immunology, or related scientific discipline with ideally 5-6 years of industry experience, or an MSc degree in the field of biology, immunology or related scientific discipline with ideally 2-3 year of industry experience.
