We are seeking an experienced Ammonia Technician to join our team, responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of ammonia refrigeration systems. This role requires extensive hands-on experience with industrial ammonia systems and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
This position operates under the International Union Local 498 collective bargaining agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems safely and efficiently
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs
Monitor system performance and maintain detailed maintenance logs
Utilize SAP system for work order processing and parts management
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
Respond to system alarms and emergency situations
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of documented experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems
Proven track record in industrial refrigeration maintenance and operations
Experience with system troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs
EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification
OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour safety training certification
PSM (Process Safety Management) training completion
Valid refrigeration license as required by local/state regulations
Working knowledge of SAP for work order management and inventory tracking
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook for communication and scheduling
Competency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, reporting, and maintenance tracking
Experience with confined space entry procedures
Understanding of ANSI/IIAR standards and OSHA regulations
Thorough knowledge of ammonia safety procedures and emergency protocols
Other requirements
Detailed work history with verifiable references from previous employers
Copies of all relevant certifications and licenses
Documentation of completed training programs
Portfolio of completed projects or maintenance records (where permissible)
Ability to use personal protective equipment and gas detection equipment

Estimated compensation for this position:
97,032.00 – 97,032.00 USD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
