Position Specific Description
Why Join NextEra Energy
At NextEra Energy, you’ll help shape the future of clean energy while leading high impact technology and data initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to influence how renewable assets are brought online—safely, reliably, and at scale—through strong systems, data, and execution.
NextEra Energy is seeking a Power Generation Technical Services Manager to lead data systems onboarding, technology enablement, and process integration supporting renewable energy operations across solar, energy storage (BESS), substations, and other generation assets. This role ensures that assets are technically, digitally, and operationally ready to transition from construction into long term operations. The position has a strong focus on IT systems, data integrity, system integration, and scalable execution, working across engineering, IT, operations, and external partners.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in enterprise systems, data platforms, and technical program leadership, and is comfortable operating in complex, cross functional environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the onboarding and integration of enterprise systems and data platforms required to support renewable energy operations.
- Own end to end systems and data readiness for assets transitioning into operations.
- Partner closely with IT, engineering, operations, and compliance teams to align technology solutions with business and operational needs.
- Manage complex, cross functional programs spanning multiple teams, systems, and vendors.
- Oversee internal resources and third party contractors delivering system configuration, data onboarding, automation, and technical execution.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and completeness to support reliable operations and downstream reporting.
- Drive process improvement, standardization, and automation to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Define technical roadmaps and support system enhancements aligned with near and long term needs.
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and execution issues; communicate clearly with leadership.
- Establish governance, metrics, and reporting to track readiness, execution performance, and outcomes.
What Success Looks Like in the First Year
- By the end of the first 12 months, this role is expected to deliver:
- Consistent, repeatable system and data onboarding for new solar, energy storage, and substation assets, with onboarding execution occurring on schedule for the vast majority of projects (target: ≥90% on time readiness).
- Sustained improvements in data quality, demonstrated by materially fewer post handoff data corrections, rework requests, or downstream operational issues tied to system or data gaps.
- Clear ownership and alignment across IT, engineering, and operations, with documented technical requirements, standardized handoffs, and reduced ambiguity about responsibilities.
- Reduced manual effort and execution risk through process standardization and targeted automation, resulting in measurable cycle time reduction or workload relief for operational teams.
- Reliable performance from vendors and contractors, with clearly defined scopes, measurable delivery expectations, and consistent accountability to cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- Actionable visibility for leadership, through repeatable reporting that clearly shows readiness status, risks, and trends without requiring ad hoc data pulls or manual reconciliation.
- Documented, scalable processes and system workflows that support portfolio growth without a proportional increase in headcount, manual work, or operational risk.
A stabilized technical foundation that allows future system enhancements and automation efforts to build on standardized data, interfaces, and governance rather than workaround solutions.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 8+ years of experience in technical program management, IT systems, data platforms, or technology enabled operations
- 2+ years leading teams, programs, or complex initiatives
- Strong understanding of enterprise systems and data flows, particularly in operational or industrial environments
- Proven experience managing vendors, contractors, or system integrators
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- Experience supporting asset management systems, documentation platforms, or operational data systems
- Background in energy, utilities, renewables, or large scale industrial operations
- Experience leading system onboarding, data integration, or digital transformation initiatives
- Comfort operating in matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders
