As a Facilities Operations Technician V – Mechanical, you will lead and guide the reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance of mission-critical mechanical and HVAC systems within hyperscale data centers. In this role, you will apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex issues, support high-impact events, and help guide upgrades, standards, and operational improvements that protect uptime and improve long-term performance
Internal Responsibilities
Eligibility and Location Requirements
This position requires U.S. citizenship and is located onsite in Saline, Michigan. Relocation assistance may be available in accordance with Oracle's relocation policies.
Define, review, and improve mechanical and HVAC architectures and designs for high-availability environments, including chilled water, DX, airside systems, and redundancy strategies.
Develop and maintain site or fleet-aligned standards for cooling redundancy, controls integration, equipment selection, and mechanical system performance.
Partner on capacity planning, retrofits, and emerging initiatives, including liquid cooling and efficiency projects, ensuring operability and maintainability.
Partner with procurement, facilities, engineering, and construction teams to improve total cost of ownership through standardization and performance-driven specifications.
Extensive (5-7+ Years) experience with mission-critical mechanical systems in data centers, industrial environments, healthcare, semiconductor, or other high-availability facilities.
Strong understanding of cooling system design and operation, controls integration, redundancy strategies, lifecycle performance, and operational risk.
Preferred Skills / Certifications
Deep experience with chilled water plants, large-tonnage cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC infrastructure, controls integration, redundancy planning, and data center cooling performance.
Experience reviewing commissioning plans, sequences of operation, maintenance strategies, failure modes, and incident response documentation.
Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) is a strong preferred data center credential for senior-level candidates who influence redundancy strategy, design interpretation, and Tier-related infrastructure decisions.
OEM factory training or certification on chillers, cooling towers, controls systems, CRAH/CRAC platforms, and liquid-cooling-related infrastructure strongly preferred.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
This is a mission-critical role supporting 24/7 operations where 100% uptime is essential; as such, regular attendance and flexibility for shift-based schedules are required. To perform these duties, you must be able to frequently walk, bend, kneel, crouch, push/pull objects, and climb stairs. You will be required to lift or move up to 39 pounds independently and participate in group lifts for loads 40 pounds or greater. Additionally, you must be capable of maintaining balance while working from a ladder or elevated platforms. These tasks are performed in an industrial environment and must be executed safely, with or without reasonable accommodation, to maintain the continuous health of the facility infrastructure.
