Position Summary:
As an AI Engineer II, you are responsible for implementing enterprise-wide Advanced Analytics AI strategy, infrastructure, and governance while leading adoption of cutting-edge technologies. You will be designing scalable, secure, and cost-optimized AI platforms and solutions. It is expected that this role leads AIOps best practices and technical excellence initiatives, assists R&D and innovation, establishes governance and responsible AI standards, and extends AI capabilities with Agentic/Generative AI. The AI Engineer II will also be providing technical mentorship and leadership to junior AI Engineers.
Major Responsibilities:
AI Environment and Platform Management
- Design and optimize large-scale AI infrastructure, implement high-availability systems using tools like Kubernetes, Karpenter and TerraForm.
- Lead the automated deployment strategies using infrastucture-as-code deployments in concert with Cloud Engineering teams.
- Design advanced observability solutions for AI pipelines (eg., distributed tracing, event logging, error handling, alerts) and alerting mechanisms.
- Design AIOps pipelines tailored for AI Workloads, ensuring smooth version management.
- Enforce AI governance (bias detection, model explainability) and compliance (internal, guardrails etc)
- Drive AI technology evaluation and planning
- Lead disaster recovery planning and root cause analysis (RCA) for critical outages.
Data Governance and Pipeline Optimization
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to define best practices for data lifecycle management standards (e.g., retention, archival, compliance)
- Ensure compliance with Data Governance principles for AI use cases. (E.g., training data validation)
- Lead performance testing and optimization strategies (distributed data handling, caching, etc.)
- Design unstructured data pipelines for text and document processing, image and video processing, and audio processing
AI Model Development and Optimization
- Lead the architecture and design review for one or more assigned project.
- Establish AIOps roadmaps (automated retraining, drift detection, cost tracking)
- Champion advanced containerization/orchestration patterns (eg multi-model serving, GPU scheduling).
- Drive performance testing initiatives for inference services, applying load testing and latency optimization.
- Contribute to the AIOps roadmap, shaping standard processes and governance checklists.
- Integrate API gateways (Apigee) and manage API consumption for AI services.
- Lead design reviews for model deployment pipelines, providing feedback on reliability and scalability.
- Lead technical decision-making
- Develop frameworks to incorporate Generative/Agentic AI functionalities and best practices.
Ensure Compliance and Security
- Identify compliance opportunities to adhere with governance and security standards.
- Recommend and implement with approval best practices in AI development and deployment.
Designing Generative & Agentic AI Initiatives
- Oversee Generative & Agentic AI projects including RAG architecture implementation, workflows, chunking strategy optimization, and prompt engineering.
- Implement the operationalization of Agentic workflows
- Develop frameworks to incorporate Generative/Agentic AI functionalities and best practices.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science or Data Science
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Data Science preferred.
- Azure Services Certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience in Machine learning, Software Engineering and predictive modeling with proven track record of leading technical projects. Experience in production AI system ownership, generative AI projects leadership, risk management, and business acumen.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with AI Engineering. Experience with designing and implementing Generative AI solutions.
- Knowledge of AI Ops best practices.
- Knowledge of AI Governance principles.
- Advanced Python programming.
- Deep understanding of ML frameworks and libraries.
- Cloud architecture experience.
- Intermediate knowledge in AI infrastructure design, generative AI implementation, AIOps practices, systems architecture, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with Cloud infrastructure and services for AI.
- Experience with designing and implementing Generative AI solutions (including Gen AI stacks, API design).
- Effective time management skills and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to own complex deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Expert ability to break technical solutions into logical units and show information or data flow.
- Ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences in non-technical terms when appropriate.
- Pursuing certifications in cloud platforms as technologies evolve.
- Ability to stay current with AI trends.
- Ability to mentor lower-level AI Engineers.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
