The Senior Implementation Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing Development & Deployment will lead the execution and implementation support of advanced automation solutions across GM’s global manufacturing footprint. This role ensures that strategy, funding, and execution are tightly aligned so plants are operationally ready and able to sustain high performance from proof of concept through Gate 8–10 implementation.
You will work hands-on with plant teams and cross-functional partners to remove technical and execution barriers, standardize launch practices, and enable scalable, repeatable automation that improves safety, quality, and throughput.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide technical implementation support for AMRs, cobots, and other emerging automation technologies across assigned plants or manufacturing sectors.
-
Support development and execution of plant automation plans, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, funding, and plant priorities.
-
Contribute to funding alignment by defining technical scope, timing, and cost inputs for automation initiatives.
-
Support proof-of-concept activities through disciplined execution, data collection, and readiness assessments.
-
Execute and maintain standardized readiness requirements, dashboards, and data-driven performance tracking to monitor implementation health.
-
Support Gate 8–10 implementation activities, ensuring launch readiness, plant stability, and adoption.
-
Work directly with plant teams to support installation, commissioning, trials, and ramp-up activities.
-
Identify and escalate execution risks and roadblocks, partnering with cross-functional teams to drive timely resolution.
-
Capture, document, and deploy lessons learned to continually improve future deployments.
-
Communicate technical status, risks, and progress clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
-
Coordinate with suppliers and internal partners to ensure alignment on scope, timing, and execution expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
You will operate in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with Manufacturing, Automation, Process Engineering, R&D, ARC, CI, MO, Plant Operations, IT, PE, GA Execution, and Advanced Operations to reduce risk, improve operational performance, and ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes across GM facilities.
