Westat has an immediate opening for a Research Assistant to contribute to ongoing health research exploring genetic, clinical, and environmental factors influencing cancer in individuals, families, and broader populations. This is supporting a project with the National Cancer Institute.
This is a full-time position to work at our client site in Rockville, Maryland at least 3 days/week and from your home office 2 days/week.
Job Responsibilities
- Working with nurses and other members of an interdisciplinary team to collect data.
- Data entry into various tracking systems
- Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the data collected utilizing various tracking systems.
- Requesting medical records, imaging, and reports and pathology material from outside institutions
- Supporting clinical activity at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center and in the field.
- Facilitating specimen collection (assembling collection kits, communicating with lab and research participants, etc.)
- Providing administrative support as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in health or social science or related fields.
- At least one year of experience in research and/or clinical work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specimen collection, processing and shipping.
- Demonstrated communication skills.
- Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced area.
- Organization skills, including time management ability.
- Detail oriented.
