Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support pharmacy operations by preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring patient safety, and providing excellent patient service. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, medication management, and aseptic techniques, particularly in LTC and hospital settings. The Pharmacy Technician will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques
- Manage medication intake, inventory control, and medication administration processes
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions and ensuring proper medication use
- Support LTC pharmacy operations with specialized knowledge of long-term care medication protocols
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication records and patient interactions
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication therapy for patients in acute care or hospital environments
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including infection control and aseptic procedures
- Assist with medication reconciliation and patient education as needed
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience required, preferably within hospital or acute care settings
- Knowledge of LTC pharmacy practices and critical care experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration, and IV infusion procedures
- Experience working with aseptic techniques in sterile environments
- Strong patient service skills with a focus on patient care and safety
- Proven ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare environments such as hospitals or acute care units
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
