Overview
CVS Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives to support the Product, Innovation & Delivery (PID) team. Under the leadership of the Executive Director, Strategic Planning, you will own high-impact initiatives that drive strategic, operational and financial transformation across the organization. This role will partner closely with senior leadership, product, operations, finance, and clinical teams to redesign processes, implement scalable solutions, and drive portfolio goals.
This role requires both a strategic thinker and hands-on operator, responsible for translating business priorities into executable plans that deliver measurable outcomes. You will be responsible for leading end-to-end transformation initiatives aligned to enterprise and PID-specific strategic priorities; translating strategy into actionable roadmaps with clear milestones, KPIs and accountability structure; and partnering with senior leadership to identify and prioritize transformation opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely as a dotted line to the VP of Product and Growth to establish multi-year plan focused on driving growth and efficiency opportunities across the portfolio as part of our focus on business transformation.
- Work with the Executive Director of Strategic Planning to execute BU-wide growth and efficiency initiatives, serving as the primary liaison to the product organization to ensure consistency and quality execution of these efforts.
- Identify and monitor healthcare trends (e.g., emerging clinical areas, innovative pricing models, evolving regulations) to ensure alignment and compliance with strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate and redesign core PBM processes (e.g. claims adjudication, prior authorization, rebate operations, etc.) to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance client experience.
- Serve as connective tissue across product, clinical, finance, legal and operations teams.
- Lead development of strategic vision, business case, and high level roadmap for key long-term growth initiatives, coordinating with business unit leadership across CVS, enterprise strategy, and the PID portfolio.
Required Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in innovation, strategy, product development, or technology leadership roles, preferably within the healthcare or PBM industry.
- Deep understanding of PBM operations (e.g. formulary management, rebates, specialty pharmacy, claims).
- Understanding of digital health and startup ecosystem. Knowledge of trends in the healthcare innovation space, ability to do research on emerging trends.
- Understanding of current state of healthcare while identifying emerging trends and regulations and prioritizing opportunities to leapfrog competition.
- Strategic finance, including how to evaluate companies’ financial health and how to size potential opportunities.
- Proven track record leading large-scale, cross-functional transformation initiatives.
- Ability to influence a wide array of stakeholders, including those who are much more senior, to collect information, drive consensus, and develop recommendations.
- Research and hypothesis development. Ability to take ambiguous prompts and turn them into discrete recommendations.
- Business case development including developing financial scenarios based on defensible assumptions.
- Advanced PPT and Excel skills with ability to develop executive-level presentations and analysis.
- Ability to balance strategy with execution and deliver results in ambiguous environments.
- Ability to translate potential opportunity into tangible roadmap based on deep expertise of product portfolio and technology systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior consulting experience.
- Experience in the pharmacy benefits management (PBM) industry.
- Exposure to digital transformation, automation or product-enabled change.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred (MBA, MS in a related field)
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
