Description
The Wireless Engineer - Senior provides senior-level engineering and operational support for SEC enterprise wireless services under the ISS contract. This role is responsible for Wi-Fi design, implementation, administration, and day-to-day management of Cisco-based wireless services. The engineer manages Cisco wireless infrastructure components, including access points, controllers, and management systems, and troubleshoots complex wireless issues. The position configures and manages mobility services, including Cisco Prime and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), to maintain secure and reliable connectivity.
Primary Responsibilities
Wireless Design and Implementation
- Design and implement enterprise Wi-Fi solutions to support user mobility and reliable connectivity.
- Plan and optimize WLAN architecture, including RF design, access point placement, controller configuration, and roaming performance.
- Execute wireless upgrades and expansions with minimal operational disruption.
- Validate wireless design and configuration changes through testing and post-implementation review.
Cisco Wireless Platform Administration
- Manage Cisco wireless components, including access points, wireless controllers, and management systems.
- Configure and administer Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to support secure wireless access and mobility services.
- Configure and manage Cisco Prime for wireless monitoring and lifecycle administration.
- Maintain stable wireless platform operations through effective configuration and administration.
Operations and Troubleshooting
- Perform day-to-day activities required to manage wireless services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex wireless issues, including connectivity, authentication, performance, and roaming.
- Support implementation and ongoing management of wireless services across SEC environments.
- Coordinate wireless operations with network and infrastructure teams to sustain service reliability.
Documentation and Service Support
- Maintain wireless network documentation, including diagrams, configuration records, and standard procedures.
- Record operational and engineering activities in approved ticketing and change-management systems.
- Provide technical input for operational reporting and service reviews.
- Support continuous improvement of wireless service delivery and support processes.
Required Qualifications
Citizenship/Work Authorization: Must meet contract requirements.
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust (or higher if required).
Education: Bachelors in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering).
Experience:
- 8+ years of professional experience, including at least 7 years of related experience managing wireless networks.
- Extensive experience in Wi-Fi design, troubleshooting, implementation, and management.
- Hands-on experience configuring and administering Cisco Wi-Fi products, including Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Experience managing Cisco wireless infrastructure components, including access points, controllers, and management systems.
Certifications:
- Must possess CCNP Wireless (CCNP-Wireless) certification or an equivalent current Cisco wireless track certification.
Technical Skills:
- Enterprise Wi-Fi design, troubleshooting, optimization, and operational management.
- Cisco wireless LAN controllers, Cisco access points, and wireless management platforms.
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) configuration and administration.
- Cisco Prime mobility and wireless service management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal civilian agency infrastructure environments with distributed users and regional offices.
- Experience operating in 24x7x365 enterprise operations environments.
- Experience integrating wireless operations with enterprise monitoring and ITSM workflows.
- Advanced wireless/network certification beyond minimum requirements (e.g., CCIE Enterprise Wireless, CWNA/CWSP).
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- CCIE Enterprise Wireless.
- CWNA/CWSP.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / OTHER
Operational Support: Supports day-to-day wireless service operations and may require participation in on-call or surge support activities based on operational needs.
Location: Telework
Travel: As required per contract direction.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
